| susiewho's Full Review: Cascade Complete |
As a youngster I was in charge of washing the dishes. We had no dishwasher. Of course, I hated that job and to add insult to injury the moment I moved out my folks bought a dishwasher. My sister didn't have to take over my job. I don't know which part of that annoyed me more. Now I have all the kitchen luxuries including a husband that loves to cook and will clean up afterwards so everything worked out in the long run.
One luxury is my Kenmore Ultra Wash III dishwasher. The product I use in this dishwasher is usually Cascade Powder. I was asked to review Cascade Complete and was thrilled to have a chance to check out the liquid version of my favorite dishwasher product. I was even happier when my box of product arrived. I had two items to test, Cascade Complete and Electrasol Advanced. Both were 75 oz.
The first feature that impressed me, about both, was the design of the bottles. Both had handles. A problem for me with the Cascade powdered version was the cumbersome box. We get the huge size box , 9.68 lbs. It's very unwieldy for me to lift. I often asked hubby to do it for me so a handled bottle was a fabulous idea.
Cascade complete comes in a metallic look bright green bottle with a silver pinch & twist cap. It's a safety cap with instructions that say "squeeze while turning". This was another plus for Cascade Complete. Child safe. The Electrasol is yellow with a white snap open cap. Not child safe. Points for Cascade. 2/1.
The scent: Cascade had a very pleasant clean scent. Electrasol Advanced had a very strong disinfectant, bug spray scent.Very unpleasant. Score so far, Cascade 3, Electrasol 1.
Dishwashing results: First of all we had guests for dinner. Barbecue chicken, sweet potato casserole, veggies au gratin, wine, trifle desert etc. We dumped all the dishes into the dishwasher, as is, including the casserole dish. Cascade really did a nice job. No spots on glassware, no transfer of food particles, clean casserole dish. That was impressive. Score 4/1.
Our next large load was given to Electrasol Advanced. This load would be the results of hubby making spagetti sauce. Pots, pans, dishes the whole nine yards with orange sauce. We also had Chili for dinner, cheesy, orange toned foods, glasses, and odds and ends. Results were above average except for the glassware. The glasses were very spotty. Cascade was definitely in the lead again. Cascade 5, Electrasol 1.
For hard water Cascade Complete offers 5.0% Phosphaphorus in phophate form which is excellent for use in hard water to prevent spotting on glassware. Electrasol is in the 3.7% range. Lower phosphates would be more environmentally friendly but higher works better with hard water. Score 5 to 2
Cascade claims that it cleans so well that you need not pre wash. We found this to be absolutely correct. Our dishes went in straight from the stove and table and came out sparkling. Very impressive. It also offers shine shield to protect your glasses from etching. 6/2.
From now on I will use the Cascade Complete, it's in an easy to use container, cleans beautifully and doesn't require a pre wash. Our glasses had no etching so we had better results with less effort using Cascade Complete.
