My husband was looking for a new job in engineering field (electrical product engineer). He posted resume on several websites including careerbuilder.com. The website seems to provide good customer service with online live chat and phone number. It is easy to use in general and the resume submission is easy. There are a few ads pages that force you to view (and say no, thanks) after sign in which are a little annoying.
We figured the upgrade would help speed up the job hunting process and paid $150 for the resume upgrade to platinum level which allows us to see people who viewed the resume. It was a mistake. He got tons of spam emails everyday while the number of real job-related emails was about the same. The resume did show up in the search result more frequently and was viewed more but people who viewed the resume were mostly head hunters (and spammers), not the potential employers. The upgrade is only for one resume, not the whole account and only lasts 30 days. If you have more than one resume, you have to pay to upgrade EACH of them. I think it's really NOT worth the price. He only got a few phone interviews with recruiting companies over the 30-day upgrade period. I believe we'd have received the same result without the resume upgrade.
Careerbuilder.com needs to screen the potential employers and do something about the spam emails. My husband finally got a job offer via other source, not career builder. I'd still recommend posting the resume here though because they have the most job titles posted on the website but free account should be enough.
