I remember my friend's 3DO! I was jealous....for like 5 minutes. Nice piece!

NES and 3DO (Reply to this comment)

kjell1979: Actually, the word "big" might not have been strong enough -- buying a 3DO was a colossal mistake. And you're right about the current price of NES carts. At most stores I know, the cost of NES games is very close to that of Genesis or SNES carts.

From what I saw, it seems as if you're biggest mistake was the 3DO. You even plugged into the PC gaming at the right time. It's tough to get into NES console gaming these days just because it's so expensive to buy the carts. I remember when you could get most Nintendo carts for under a $1 at FuncoLand. In fact SMB/Duck Hunt was a penny.

And I thought I started out early. I started gaming when I was 4.

What memories your piece evoked!

Alas, due to my obvious - though dubious - advantage in age, I can add to your list Atari, Odyssey, and Intellivision. I owned all three prior to Colecovision in the mid-80's.

Does Vectrex count? ;)

Good job!

Thank you for your comments! I wasn't sure if my "gaming life" would echo that of other players. (I assume that most went beyond the Playstation 1, though.)

I missed on Super Mario RPG because I think it was released as I bought my Playstation. You wrote about Track and Field -- I did not own it myself, but my friend did and we used to play quite often (with Turbo controllers of course...). I liked Contra too, but preferred Super C.
