Nice clothes, slow expensive shipping, pricey, not the best site navigation

Babystyle.com
I recently made a purchase directly from Babystyle.com. Previously I had purchased some of their “softest sets” off of Amazon, but I wanted to make a larger purchase this time and was able to find a 20% off coupon to use on the site. My son had grown out of all of his little Polos and I was getting tired of the cute little frat boy look anyway. Babystyle offers a wide variety of baby and toddler clothing as well as shoes and other accessories to go with the clothing. In addition, they carry a full line of baby gear including the Bugaboo Bee which my sister just bought from them (In fact, they were the only retailer in the US to sell the Bugaboo Bee when it launched!).
Quality items…
Babystyle offers some of the softest baby clothing I have ever felt. It is so nice to dress my son in these incredibly comfortable clothes and they even offer an organic clothing line. I love the options and the wide array of coordinating items on the site. I have not bought anything so far from Babystyle that I would consider to be low quality.
Price –
Quality does not always equal lower prices and that is definitely the case at Babystyle. The shirts are $15-20 on average and up, but you can lower that dollar amount by taking advantage of their special deals and purchasing more than one of each kind. I bought an adorable set of pastel camo socks which cost me about $24 for six pairs. I thought this was a bit steep, but boy can’t seem to keep a pair of socks on and I needed more for the coming fall and winter days.
The website itself –
Babystyle has a brick and mortar shop, but not one near me, so the website is my source for their clothes unless I want to hit Amazon for a few. The site was a bit harder to navigate than I am used to and I did not find it very easy just to view all the items at once which is my favorite method. Checking out was easy enough and it did allow me to save my info as an option to make it easier for ordering next time.
Shipping –
Shipping was not very fast – it came UPS Ground and it was hard waiting for that box! It took about five days and went over a weekend, but eventually did show up at my door and was packed nicely. The shipping was extremely expensive, really, for the size of box I got. I spent about $300 at babystyle, but the clothing was tiny and all fit into a tiny box. It seems as if they charged me based on dollar amount rather than giving me a good price on shipping based on my wonderful patronage to their site…hmmm. The shipping actually cost me well over $20!!!
Returns –
I am used to girls and apparently horizontal stripes on little pants that look like leggings are too girly even if they are brown and greyish, so I found that I did have to send them back. Babystyle supplied a nice label and it was pretty easy to make the return, though by the time I get charged on the shipping again, I am sure I could probably do better on Ebay since the leggings were on sale to begin with….
Overall,
Babystyle.com has some bugs to work out with their site and their expensive shipping. I feel like I should get free shipping in today’s age of internet commerce and especially at my level of spending. The clothing is high quality and despite the site navigation issues and steep shipping, I will continue to purchase clothing from Babystyle as long as I can find an internet coupon to save me enough money to make it worth it.
