My experience with Harbor Freight has been mixed and since I am a professional Handy Man, I buy a lot of tools. First, the good: Prices - Good to Great; Selection - Fair to Good; Returns - Good; Quality of Tools - Mixed: Hand Tools - Good; Pneumatic - Fair to Good; Corded Tools - Fair to Good; Cordless Tools - BAD to Fair!
While I normally purchase Milwaukee, DeWalt, Bosch, Rigid and the rest of the heavy duty tool lines for tools I have to depend on daily. I have found I can cut my expenses by buying hand tools and other non-continous use tools from Harbor Freight. The one area I have learned to stay away from is their cordless tools though! For an example, I own two Mikita 9.6 Volt cordless staple guns. When I saw a Harbor Freight 18 Volt corless staple gun, I purchased it (on sale naturally). It was a gutless wonder! Too heavy, didn't drive the staples in near as deep an the Mikita 9.6 volt ones and had a tendency to jam.
Customer Service is a mixed bad too. In store, find the person that is closest to your age and ask them for help. On line: Mixed at best.
