So uh, this is my entry in artemisadorned's "Remembering when you were 17 w/o". Now, I'm only in my 20's... sooo.. this wasn't THAT long ago. 1. Who were your best friends, or were you a friendless geek? What was the most interesting fun that you had together? All of my friends were folks online, but mostly it was just Daniel, Josh, and Kath (both IRL and online), and a small handful of folks I barely remember anymore online. I knew Micah, but we weren't really all that close as friends yet back then. 2. What was your favorite food? Have you out grown your fondness for it? Was this food involved in a food fight? I think I had a fondness for pizza, and pasta. I don't really remember. 3. Did you have a pet- real or imaginary? Were you the teacher's pet. Maybe you were the animal- fess up! My mom had 2 cats, but I moved out @ 17 to my first apartment (with 3 gay roommates! fun!), and I had no pets there. Unless you count Daniel's boyfriend (who's a spitting image of Drew Carey plus a few pounds, serious!). 4. What was your most memorable, life changing moment- in school or out. Did it involve any psychedelics? I lost what may possibly be the only person I've ever truly been "in love" with right around my 18th birthday. Soooo... 17 has lots of memories I look back on with fondness. Don't get me wrong, I'm an affectionate person. I love my friends, husband, family, etc.. it's just not the same as.. well.. meh. I don't want to get into it, really. It's all in my LiveJournal... 5. Were you still a virgin at 17? Are you still? Yup. I was a virgin until well after I was old enough to date adults legally. ;) 6. What was the most wicked thing you did? Did anyone find out? Were you grounded or just thrown in jail? I bought a dime bag of weed through the drive-through window at my job, Taco Bell. Well, I thought I did. Turns out I got ripped off, but nonetheless, if I had gotten caught I still would have been charged with buying drugs using company property. 7. How many guys or girls did you date when you were 17? Do you still keep in touch with them? Is your current mate jealous? Just one. We lost touch for a long time, mostly because the breakup hit me very, very, very very hard. In fact, it wasn't until he got engaged to his fiance and I was already married that he finally found me again. Now we're friends, with some mutual friends, and his wife and I get along decently enough that I'm not like totally jealous of her.. most days. 8. What was your favorite subject in school? Or are you a high school drop out? Did you get to skip a grade because you are a genius? I was homeschooled because schoolteachers are morons. (Thanks Mom!). I finished highschool at 16, but I was a slacker and never got the diploma until I was 19 (it's a 6 hour test!) 9. What was the make and the condition of the car you drove. Were you guilty of any traffic violations or worse? Were you randy? Didn't have a car, I rode the bus or walked. 10. Did you know what you wanted to do with your life? Did you aspire to be a beauty queen, fireman or a Dentist? Or just be plain old brilliant and discover... I wanted to be a network system's administrator, marry Josh, and live happily ever after in the smarthouse we would wire and program together. 11. Where did you live? The city, rural America, suburbia, out of this country... or in your own private, little world? Richmond, VA .. about 30mins from my mom! 12. Sisters and brothers are, were, still are..... How many? Were you an only child? Do you wish you were an only child? Did you see to it that you were? None that I associated with at the time, either due to having never met them yet (adopted out siblings), or just not liking them. 13. Did you get into the college of your choice? Were you college bound? Did you end up with a great job flipping burgers? Are you famous now because of the choice you made then? Didn't touch college until I was 21. 14. What was your favorite music, group, singer at 17? Do you listen to them today? Did your parents ever break your records? Did you play an instrument or in a group? REEL BIG FISH & RAMMS+EIN. I still like them both, but they're a lot lower on the favs list. My CDs never got broke, in fact sometimes my mom would catch herself singing along with my stuff, lol. I tried to learn to play the trumpet, but that sort of fell through. 15. Tell us about your prom... Theme, date, outfit. What dance was popular then. What was your "after the prom" fun. I dare you to post a picture of yourself, your date. homeschooled. no prom. 16. Did you belong to any after school clubs or sports? Were you ever in the newspaper because of these activities? Dude. I didn't go to school! 17. The biggie and final question... Would you ever do it all over again if you could. Remember the drama and the hormones and the angst before you answer. In my mind I'm there several times a day, actually. Would I do it all again? Sure.. but if I had the chance I'd make a few changes.. like.. not get so damned jealous of Rachel all the time.. and maybe try to behave more maturely in my relationship. PS.. if you love someone so much that the idea of them leaving you just tears you to shreds.. doing things to "test" their love of you is /not/ a bright idea. Seriously, it made sense when I was a teenager... *sighs*  |
