The Bottom Line Its great to think back to memories of the past, and being 17 was not an easy time for anyone.
I decided to take a flash-back to when I was 17, and enter into a new write-off being hosted by Artemisadorned at Remembering when you Were 17 1. Who were your best friends, or were you a friendless geek? What was the most interesting fun that you had together? By best friends included everyone on the sports teams that I participated on, and a lot of the senior class that I was a part of. The most fun we had, was when we would get together as a group of around 10 friends, and play full-court basketball out at the city park. There were also several other courts near people's houses that we would commute to depending on how the weather was, or if our primary was taken. 2. What was your favorite food? Have you out grown your fondness for it? Was this food involved in a food fight? My favorite food then was pizza, and rather than develop a new favorite, I have only started liking more kinds of pizza. I have found it to be a source of all of my food groups, and it is a great life-sustaining food! Wasting pizza was a big time party foul, and would never have been used in a food fight ;) 3. Did you have a pet- real or imaginary? Were you the teacher's pet. Maybe you were the animal- fess up! I had a few pets, including a hamster, 4 cats, and a dog (cocker spaniel). Regarding being a teachers pet, I was the type of student that did my research, and would call out the teacher if I thought they were wrong. Big Mistake. I was the furthest thing from a "pet" as you could get. 4. What was your most memorable, life changing moment- in school or out. Did it involve any psychedelics? Graduating from college is near the top of any list. Took a while, but I got my degrees! 5. Were you still a virgin at 17? Are you still? Yeah, I actually waited until I made it to college, but no longer am I. :) 6. What was the most wicked thing you did? Did anyone find out? Were you grounded or just thrown in jail? Running for President of the Residence Hall Association, I conducted a behind the scenes campaign. I did not go public, nor allow my opponents to even know I was running, until the meeting of nominations. I ended up winning, but it was pretty wicked to not let them prepare for debates against me. ;) 7. How many guys or girls did you date when you were 17? Do you still keep in touch with them? Is your current mate jealous? Just 1, a high school sweet-heart I guess you could call it. I do miss her, and have not been in contact with her for an awfully long time. In fact, I dont even know where to start looking. 8. What was your favorite subject in school? Or are you a high school drop out? Did you get to skip a grade because you are a genius? Gym was my favorite, because I was a real athletic type. So, it was an easy period that helped me work off the stresses from the day. Never skipped any grades, though I was smart enough to be offered the chance. 9. What was the make and the condition of the car you drove. Were you guilty of any traffic violations or worse? Were you randy? Didnt drive in high school, but the friend I was with drove a little hatch-back. 10. Did you know what you wanted to do with your life? Did you aspire to be a beauty queen, fireman or a Dentist? Or just be plain old brilliant and discover... Didnt know what I wanted to do. Thought about going into sports, but ended up going to college to "find myself". Now I work at that college after graduating here. 11. Where did you live? The city, rural America, suburbia, out of this country... or in your own private, little world? Good ol' Pullman Washington. A college town on the Eastern Side of Washington State, and on the border of Idaho. 12. Sisters and brothers are, were, still are..... How many? Were you an only child? Do you wish you were an only child? Did you see to it that you were? One brother, Keith, who is 2 years younger than I. He is a good brother, and was born on July 22, while my birthday is July 23. Go figure... 13. Did you get into the college of your choice? Were you college bound? Did you end up with a great job flipping burgers? Are you famous now because of the choice you made then? Infamous more like it... but yes I did get into a college of my choice, and I am bound for glory sooner or later. You could even go as far as saying that I am now "qualified" to flip those burgers. 14. What was your favorite music, group, singer at 17? Do you listen to them today? Did your parents ever break your records? Did you play an instrument or in a group? Favorite group was, and still is, No Doubt. I still listen to their great music, and I hope they stick around for a while longer. Didnt ever have any CDs broken, as I didnt rock out too often. 15. Tell us about your prom... Theme, date, outfit. What dance was popular then. What was your "after the prom" fun. I dare you to post a picture of yourself, your date. "I'll Stand By You" was the theme of our prom, I wore a basic tux, and unfortunately the Macarena was becoming famous at the time. No pictures will be posted unless $19.95 is sent to my address. 16. Did you belong to any after school clubs or sports? Were you ever in the newspaper because of these activities? I played baseball, basketball, tennis, ran track and cross country, and also played chess. I was in the newspaper weekly for the local events, though I never became a high-paid superstar...yet. It was fun thinking back, and it was even funner thinking of the friends I had at the time. None of us were even close to being normal, nor would I change anything about it. |
