The Bottom Line Every dark tunnel as a light of hope, So don't hang yourself with a celibate rope.
Oh yes, the days of a naked checking account and self discovery.....Wait - nothing's changed! This is my entry to Artemisadorned's When I was 17 W/O. Was much fun - take a minute think back on your 17th year. 1. Who were your best friends, or were you a friendless geek? What was the most interesting fun that you had together? Well at close to 16 I moved back to Texas so I had to start over again friend-wise. At 17...Lets see .....since my b-day falls at the end of August (back in the day Sept 1st was the cut off date for school) I was graduating high school and was about a year into my relationship with my now hubby. SO he was it. No real girlfriends I went to school till 11 or 12, then straight to work until 8 or 9, went to his parent's house, had dinner, had sex and then walked across the street to my house by 10.. or 10:30 if I was pushing it.... OH yeah Did I mention he was my brothers best friend too....but a totally different kind of best friend. 2. What was your favorite food? Have you out grown your fondness for it? Was this food involved in a food fight? Pizza Hut probably outgrown it? NO! The closest Ive gotten to a food fight was....Once while cooking dinner my hubby just wouldnt let some petty argument go. I was already rolling my eyes every time I turned around and was just sick of hearing about it. SO I spun around and in silence threw a single green bean at him that caught his cheek. We both immediately started laughing. But that was much later that 17. 3. Did you have a pet- real or imaginary? Were you the teacher's pet. Maybe you were the animal- fess up! Yeah I had a black and while mutt with muscles like a pit. Boston. I didnt take care of him so my mom did. Eventually she took him to the pound. I know I know I dont wanna here it. Teachers pet? No not really. I was as forgettable as most of them were. Me an animal? At 17 - maybe a rabbit. 4. What was your most memorable, life changing moment- in school or out. Did it involve any psychedelics? Well there are a few big things, but none of them happened at 17. Psychedelics? None after I met my no tolerance drug policy hubby. It was definitely for the better. 5. Were you still a virgin at 17? Are you still? Uhh No. 6. What was the most wicked thing you did? Did anyone find out? Were you grounded or just thrown in jail? My sister dated this ignorant jerk-off of a guy and he was always trying to instigate the already fueled fire of hatred between my sister and I. Much to his delight one day, she and I ended up in physical fight over how he much of a jerk he was - in front of him. He actually talked smack to her for my pinning her. A few days later, still mad that she was allowing herself to be run by this guy, I casually went out and keyed her car bumper to bumper. Never told anyone. My boyfriend was there when I did it. He kinda made me crappy for doing it too. The jerk (my sis's boyfriend) left the picture about a 6 months later but the scratch didn't. 7. How many guys or girls did you date when you were 17? Do you still keep in touch with them? Is your current mate jealous? I dated boys only. I married the one I was with at 17 (Got married at 20). As for the ones before him, it seems like every time I break up with someone they drop off the face of the earth. I never see or hear from them again. Not that I really care to - but ya know. Hes not jealous. Although he does still notice "looks". 8. What was your favorite subject in school? Or are you a high school drop out? Did you get to skip a grade because you are a genius? I graduated & no I didnt skip any grades. My favorite subject....didn't really have a favorite but I really liked my work program class. It taught us the ins and outs of using word & excel. We learned how to do fliers and charts junk like that. I did use this info later on and ended up being responsible for the weekly charting for prduction meetings, that I didn't attend. 9. What was the make and the condition of the car you drove. Were you guilty of any traffic violations or worse? Were you randy? At first I had an 83 mustang that was primer gray & idled higher than the school zone speed limit. When I graduated my mom bought me 92 or 93 Hyundai Excel. It was a standard and I think every kid should be taught to drive a standard. 10. Did you know what you wanted to do with your life? Did you aspire to be a beauty queen, fireman or a Dentist? Or just be plain old brilliant and discover... Honestly I wanted to work in an office and well ...pretend to be a grown up. I was content hanging out with those I choose to talk to in class or at work. I just didnt have the time to spare. I HAD to work to pay for my high school stuff and any extra something I wanted, and I loved hanging out w/ my boyfriend. I didnt really need/have/want girlfriends again until several years later. 11. Where did you live? The city, rural America, suburbia, out of this country... or in your own private, little world? Rural America. It was different form living in Missouri. Quiet, and just less... 12. Sisters and brothers are, were, still are..... How many? Were you an only child? Do you wish you were an only child? Did you see to it that you were? 2 half brothers, 1 half sister and 1 regular sister. Glad Im not an only child now. 13. Did you get into the college of your choice? Were you college bound? Did you end up with a great job flipping burgers? Are you famous now because of the choice you made then? Didnt want to go to college. I figured college cant teach you experience. Once my kid and at least 1 more gets into school, I have thought of taking some college courses....but on what I have no idea. I dont have high aspirations, I just want to find something Id want to do everyday. Strange to think Ill actually have a chance to start over. Famous? No. Maybe small town famous. A lot of locals remember me from the store. I get "where-do-I-know-you-from" looks & questions often. And I never flipped burgers or worked in any fast food place, just the one grocery store. I would like to work as a waitress though, I think Id be good at it and I think itd be tons of fun. Talk about aiming high right? Sheesh. 14. What was your favorite music, group, singer at 17? Do you listen to them today? Did your parents ever break your records? Did you play an instrument or in a group? Records??? Never had one. My mom didnt care as long as I stayed outta trouble and didnt get pregnant. I loved LIVE. I liked Weezer and Beck. Some how I ended up with a Black Sabbath tribute album that I listened to while getting ready. Those CDs are long gone but on occasion, I still think about them. Aerosmith had been a favorite of mine from probably 11 or 12. At 17 rock and heavier rock was my choice of music. Definately not the genre hopping person I am today. Don't ask where my bottom line came from. 15. Tell us about your prom... Theme, date, outfit. What dance was popular then. What was your "after the prom" fun. I dare you to post a picture of yourself, your date. The theme was City Lights I think...whatever that meant. I wore a lavender silky halter type formal. We went with another couple to Reunion Tower (you know that big ball building in the pics of downtown Dallas?) Well its a rotating restaurant (and the food sucked). Turned out most of the females of my class were dating men of my hubbys class. He graduation 3 years ahead of me. SO he had fun catching up. We didnt stay for long. We went back to a fancy shmancy hotel were I modeled my very 1st piece of black see through something. Here is my prom pic - it's all the way down at the bottom. 16. Did you belong to any after school clubs or sports? Were you ever in the newspaper because of these activities? Not at 17. I went to school then work then food then sex (we already covered this) 17. The biggie and final question... Would you ever do it all over again if you could. Remember the drama and the hormones and the angst before you answer. Would I relive it? Not if I didnt have to. Would I change it? Not but one thing I'll never mention. ;) |
