Slowly but surely- Lillian Vernon Online Store.

For several years now, I have gotten the Lillian Vernon print catalog, and ordered from it numerous times via mail. But, for the first time, I decided to try their online store www.lillianvernon.com, mainly because I could use my Ebates account and get 6% back of my purchase price there.
The site is pretty basic looking, but easy to work with. Since I already knew I was shopping for a Halloween costume, I just clicked on the seasonal Halloween tab right on the homepage, then I went to that page and I clicked on costumes by size tab, where I selected toddlers. Then, I found the cat costume I was looking for. There is also a search function where you can type in what you are looking for.
So, after I added the costume to my cart (which I happened to get on sale for $17), I decided just to look around to see if there was any stuff I just had to have. I noticed a little section called ‘teachers gifts’ and decided to look there to see if anything jumped out at me for my kids’ teachers. I did happen to find a set of wicker apple shaped baskets for $19.98, so I decided to get those.
As far as selection goes, well, Lillian Vernon is well…….repetitive. I have been getting the catalog for about 6 years now, and a lot of their merchandise is stuff they were carrying 6 years ago- but don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty nice stuff. But, once you buy something once from there, it’s a while before you order from there again, because the selection is just the same old same old.
Well, I decided to check out, and Lillian Vernon accepts all major credit cards. Immediately after I ordered, I got a confirmation email saying my order was being processed. A week later, I got an email saying my order had been shipped via USPS. Seven days after that, my order was at my door.
As far as shipping is concerned, I paid a whopping $10.99 for $37 worth of merchandise, so my suggestion to you would be if you are going to shop from here, be sure to order a few things to make it seem like the shipping is going to be worth it. I also suggest that you plan ahead of time when ordering from here, as it is a little slower than other companies out there.
Returns- well I didn’t have to return anything this time, but I have in the past, and I have sent it back via postal mail and have had no trouble returning stuff.
Overall, well I would shop here, but it’s not a place I make a habit of shopping at- I mean, they do have pretty nice stuff, lots of personalization is available on items, and if you can catch some stuff on sale you can get a bargain. But, if you do shop there do note to plan ahead of time, especially if you need it for some holiday because the shipping is a little slow, and be sure to order all the stuff you need at one time because of the high shipping costs.
