| amyk49's Full Review: Cascade Complete |
Over the years I've tried a few different brands of dishwasher detergents, but I always come back to Cascade. I recently had an opportunity to make a comparative test of Cascade Complete versus Electrasol Advanced. Read on for the results!
~ Product Description
First of all, let me tell you a little bit more about Cascade Complete. I am reviewing here the liquid version, although I have also used with similar excellent results the granular formula.
I have this in the 75 oz. bottle. The bottle is the usual Cascade Green, and yes, it is a little heavy when full, but the molded-in handle makes it easy enough to pick up. The bottle features a safety cap, which you must squeeze on two sides while turning to open. I guess it's good to have a safety feature, but since I have no children in the home, I often wish I could just flip up a cap or something. If you have difficulty using your hands, it might be annoying for you.
The packaging tells us, "Cleans so well...no need to pre-wash! Dissolves food! Rinses clean!" Cascade Complete features Shine Shield, which is designed to help protect your glasses from etching. The bottle suggests that for best results you should fill both the pre-wash and the main wash cups completely.
With regard to phosphorus content, the Cascade Complete formula averages no more than 5.0% phosphorus.
~ My Experience
As I mentioned, I tested Cascade Complete Liquid versus Electrasol Liquid. I have a fairly new dishwasher, and relatively minimal dishwashing needs. Just me in the family, so I don't run the dishwasher every day. However, I did run three full loads trying out each detergent. I DO NOT rinse my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, other than knocking off any big chunks of food, etc. My dish loads included dried egg yolks, greasy frying pans, sticky oatmeal bowls, mircowaved-and-burned-stuck-on-food particles, as well as glassware and silverware, and other assorted dishes and pans.
My Cascade Complete dishes came out sparkling clean, with an almost squeaky-clean type of feel. My glasses were spot free. I think I had one butter knife that had some spots, but that has happened before and I don't necessarily fault the dishwasher detergent. All the dishes were perfectly clean, and with no rinsing.
My Electrasol dishes came out clean too, but I could notice a slight lack of "shininess" or that sparkling-clean look they had with Cascade. My glasses had a few very slight spots. Nothing horrible or anything, but when it came right down to it, Cascade Complete left my dishes cleaner, shinier and more spot-free.
~ Final Thoughts
I've been a Cascade fan for several years, and now after a side-by-side comparison with another brand, I know why; Cascade Complete is a superior dishwasher detergent. Yes, you might pay a little bit more, but sparkling clean, spot-free dishes are worth it to me. If you haven't tried Cascade Complete yet, I recommend you give it a try!
I was given a bottle of Cascade Complete and Electrasol by Hass MS&L in order to perform this comparative test and provide my honest results and review.
