I love Epinions. The people here are great. I enjoy the interaction with fellow reviewers. Also, because of this site I have gained valuable information about products before I purchased them. I have shared my own findings on various products too. Through Epinions I have been introduced to items, websites, and places that I hadn’t known about. One of these fabulous finds came from a terrific Epinionator, Patty Therre. Thanks to her review on Zenni Optical, I have several pairs of spectacular specs!
Ok, maybe not several but hubby and I each have four pairs. Mine include a pair of regular glasses that I keep on the bedside table, a pair of anti-reflective coated glasses that I wear out and about, and two pairs of sunglasses with 50% tint and 80% tint. Hubby has a similar set but both of his sunglasses have a 50% blue tint. The cool thing is we spent $114.60 total for all of them.

Yup, all of them.
Zenni Optical has good looking, quality frames starting at $8.00. All of my selections were in that section. Lenses are made from a “premium quality high index Polycarbonate composite polymer high impact resistance lenses with full UV protection, special strong anti-scratch coating”. Adding tint or a reflective coating is an additional $4.95. If we needed, we could have spent more for progressive, bifocal, or other specialty lenses.
Zenni Optical website is easy to use. On the left side there are tabs categorizing frames by price, style, and specialty. Upfront and center is a list of frames, starting prices, available upgrades, and their costs. The right outlines the included features of all their lenses:

At the top of the homepage are four tabs – home, how to order, contact, and view cart/checkout. The remainder of the center of the page displays various frames. The left has a search feature, general information links (shipping, guarantee, etc.), shopping cart link, and payment and security icons.
Browsing frames on the Zenni website isn’t as smooth surfing as 39 Dollar Glasses Online Store. Another minus is the absence of a way to see the frames on different shaped faces. But, it isn’t a horrendous experience. I must admit that hubby and I already had in mind the style and size of frames we wanted because we had looked at them previously at a couple of brick & mortar eyeglass stores.
Ordering however, is a cinch. After selecting a frame simply toggle through the drop down boxes to complete information such as color, coating, tint, prescription information, PD (Pupillary Distance, measurement of space between middle of one pupil to the other), lens type, and prescription strength. If you are unclear at any line just click on the blue question mark help key. A separate window pops up providing a detailed explanation. Once all information is entered, click to add to cart. The next page is in your cart and gives a complete review of your glasses order. It also shows a picture of the frames and keeps a running total of your purchase. Checkout is secure. A confirmation email detailing order is sent.
Zenni Optical provides the following information on their shipping and guarantee policies:
“Shipping is $4.95 total per order, any size of order.
Most orders will be delivered within about two weeks , orders which require some extra,special or custom lab work like progressives, bi-focals, custom suntint, or extra strength prescriptions can take three to six days extra.
Shipment is via USPS First Class with tracking # and delivery confirmation for domestic US Shipping and handling cost is $4.95 per order total, no matter the size of the order, whether for one or 100 eyeglasses, so it definitely saves to have more glasses per order than to order them individually.
All glasses are shipped with a hard case and lens cleaning cloth. If you need to return any glasses for any reason please be sure to return them in the same protective hard case they arrived in.
Our Guarantee
We take great pride in delivering a quality product at incredibly low prices. Every prescription order is meticulously checked by certified technicians for prescription accuracy and optical clarity before shipment. Since all orders are unique all sales must be final so please be extra careful in filling out your order.

I’m not thrilled with their return policy and hubby disliked the thought of having to wait two weeks or more for the glasses but we took a chance on Zenni and are pleased. The glasses arrived well within the two weeks and were mailed securely via United States Postal Service. They came in hard cases that have a nifty push button to open them. A cloth is included in every case to clean the lenses. We enjoy our new glasses. They look good, feel great, and are an awesome buy. We both have received compliments on the glasses and have steered inquiring family and friends to the website too.
Zenni’s cost is amazing. We got eight pairs of glasses for the same price we paid for two on 39dollarglasses.com, equals about the same as one pair from a regular eyeglass store, and is half the price of one from Lens Crafters! Talk about cheap. We don’t fear breaking or ruining them like other pairs we have owned. Zenni is a perfect choice for kids too as it eliminates the high price of replacements for lost or broken glasses.
I plan to buy from Zenni Optical again – maybe sooner than I had anticipated. I’m not happy with my frames from 39dollarglasses and want to find something similar from Zenni instead. Oh ok, I want to play with another zany pair of frames too. I got a funky pink and green sunglasses with purple tint that I wear for gardening and yard work. They make me smile every time I wear them. Now I feel daring and want to find a spiffy one for regular glasses.
So, yes, Hubby and I are very happy customers. I’m so glad I read the reviews here about them. Thanks to Epinions I am finding some cool stuff to spend money on. I also like the wishlist feature. It gives hubby a few gift ideas:

Hubby and I had our almost 2-yr eye appointment a few months ago. Our vision remained nearly the same. Actually, my one eye improved. So we ordered again from Zen.
Our new glasses arrived yesterday! We're very pleased. Both of us got 2 pairs of regular glasses with anti-reflective coating for under $60. We're now planning our next order for some fun shades.
My old ones frames are still going strong so I'll donate them. Hubby's one old pair are too scratched but otherwsie the frames from Zenni have worked well. We're happy Zen customers -- and happy Epinions fans too!
