Buyer Beware! Terrible blueshifted image. Worse than it's predecessors

Pros: Almost lossless widescreen functionality, compact size, excellent sound quality that handycams are known for.

Cons: Auto white balance plain doesn't work.

The Bottom Line: Use this to record audio. Please don't ruin your memories by drenching them in an icy blue tint.

My goodness, I had my Sony dcr-hc30, a 2004 midrange handycam stolen from me recently. I figure I could get a decently upgraded version of what I had by going for the dcr-hc48. I was sorely mistaken. This camera's color balancing favors blue so much that I want to just throw the thing across the room because it will trash any memories I take with it. Forget about the beach, I know the sand will look bluish and what would normally be a beautiful scene on my old camera would turn to crap. Because there's no manual color correction, I can't even try to balance out this problem. Even if I could, the range of colors this camera is capable of capable of reproducing is extremely limited. I know that even 1/6'' CCD camcorders are capable of much better than this. The low-end 2004 JVC I had for a few days before returning it in favor of the DCR-HC30 had less of a blueshift than this piece of crap. If you want a handycam out of Sony that is capable of a passable picture it appears it's DCR-HC96 or bust. I don't understand how things can go backwards like this.
