As much as I love crazily colored and scented bath and shower products, I’m pretty bland about my makeup routine, which has for years consisted of a tube of concealer and my signature Clinique lipstick. Adding Pop-Up Blush by Pop Beauty to my life was my attempt at spicing up my look a bit. As it turns out, I’m completely thrilled with this cheek stain, which has me thinking that I may need to step out of my makeup rut more frequently.
The Basics
Pop Beauty is a UK-based company selling various types of makeup and specializing in products for cheeks. I got mine off of Sephora.com, and I have seen products from this brand for sale on Amazon.com as well.
Pop-Up Blush is available in three different shades. I selected “Baby Rush”, the least pinky of the bunch. All come packaged in a sturdy plastic “Pop up” applicator with a twist-off lid. I’m such a make-up ignoramus that, despite the name, I realized . Pop-Up Blush retails for $19.00 per one ounce stick. This stuff lasts an incredibly time. I’ve been using mine daily for several months, and I’m sure I’ll discard it for hygiene reasons long before I actually run out.
My Experience
Upon opening my blush for the first time, I immediately noted that it smelled fabulous. This watermelon scent was actually a big surprise, as makeup ordinarily either smells like nothing or has a slightly unpleasant smell. Pop-Up Blush can be applied either with fingers or straight from the applicator. I usually apply straight from the stick and then smooth out any uneven areas with my fingers. This stain goes on liquid and blends very easily.
I love the look I get with Pop-Up Blush. The stain is perfect for my pale skin tone and gives me a natural, but noticeable, glow which instantly makes me look sun-kissed, in a very good way. I can easily layer either a little or a lot of stain, depending on the time of year and how pale my skin is. Pop-Up Blush is relatively long-lasting, as blushes go. By the end of the day, I can still tell that I applied this product first thing in the morning. Additionally, my concern that this blush might make me break out was unnecessary. The skin on my cheeks has actually improved since I began using this oil-free formula, which seems to be somewhat moisturizing.
Overall…
After years of using cream blush, I’m now fully a convert to cheek stain. I rarely leave the house without my Pop-Up Blush, and it has proved essential on more than one occasion when I needed to fake good health or general alertness at work. This is truly a five-star product which I fully intend to purchase again in the future.
