For online or offline shopping, I recommend Joann.com for anyone that likes to sew or is involved in crafting.

This is the most wonderful store that a 'real world' store has created. A lot of stores don't make the transition to online 'etailer', but Joann seems to have succeeded at it. Let's shop there and help keep them in business!
SELECTION:
Joann.com has such an amazing selection for an online crafts store.
Fabrics: Beautiful selections. You do have to have your own clothing patterns, as they don't seem to carry those. Maybe at a later date they will add that feature. That is probably going to depend on the pattern manufacturers. Seems like it would be a nice idea to be able to look at pattern books online instead of perched on a stool in the store for two hours. :) Quilting fabrics and equipment are also available. Some beautiful Christmas and seasonal fabrics are available now.
Crafting materials: WOW! They have things I didn't know existed. Things for cross stitching, candle making, soap making, doll making and more. Don't know what you want to make? Click on project ideas and I bet you will find something.
SHIPPING:
Shipping costs are reasonable. If you sign up for the newsletter, you will get frequent offers for free shipping with a $40 purchase. Shipping is always free with a $250 order. That is going to be tough for most people to benefit from, but they do sell large items like sewing machines.
DELIVERY:
My order arrived promptly and was packaged securely. Almost overkill on the packaging, but guess I'd rather have it packed extra good than have something arrive broken. Everything was as pictured and I wished I had ordered more!
INFORMATION:
Lots of options on this web site. They have advice on different craft projects as well as bulletin boards where you can post your questions. The boards are divided by category so you are much more likely to get an answer for your particular problem. Queries stay on for two weeks and you can re-post if you don't get a reply from anyone.
PRICES: The prices on the items at Joann.com are very competitive with other fabric and craft stores. They probably aren't going to be cheaper than Wal-Mart, but the selection is so much better, who cares?! And besides, I can shop in my PJs after midnight at Joann.com and nobody cares. :)
After holidays, Joann.com marks down the holiday items like any other store. You can snatch up some good bargains then. They also frequent run specials. For instance, knitting and crocheting notions are 30% off right now.
