Pros: The technical aspects of the film succeed and a strong cast sells the show.
Cons: A slow start; some scenes seem a little rough, almost as if lacking discipline.
The Bottom Line: If you get the chance, catch "Dust" in theaters before it leaves. It is certainly worth the price of admission for a big screen viewing.

| jimcarrey3's Full Review: Stardust |
While most of the American public is busy with movies such as the overrated Superbad and the atrocious Rush Hour 3, its easy to see why a clever British-made adventure, appropriately titled Stardust, would go through the cinemas mostly unnoticed. This is a shame, because Stardust manages to be the most exciting and humorous adventure of the summer.
After a slow, slightly confusing start, Stardust picks up the pace and enraptures the audience into a world of kings, witches, and falling stars. Tristan, played by breakthrough actor Charlie Cox, leaves his town and enters a magical land to retrieve a falling star for his true love. Along the way, he runs into a series of kooky characters, including Robert De Niro as the dreaded Captain Shakespeare, who provides several laughs and is one of the main high points in the film.
Director Matthew Vaughn, who adapted the screenplay from the novel by Neil Gaiman, has obviously put a lot of time and thought into this well-crafted fantasy. The cinematography by Ben Davis (Layer Cake) is terrific, the music is superior, and the acting is first-rate. This film is definitely a must-see. On the Real Deal Scale, I give Stardust an 8/10.
