Amending my review (Reply to this comment)
by william5419
I need to amend my review on the compatibility of hooking up an exterior DVD player with the Panasonic Triple Play unit.
The DVD movies usually have have subtitles. For the hearing-impaired, this is otherwise known as closed-captioning. The TV itself sometimes would pick up closed-captioning without having the need for subtitles for the hearing-impaired. That it usually the case for the newer DVD's, like "Once Upon A Time In The West", or "Breach".
So it was a good choice of having to stick with closed-captioning, or turn it off and use subtitles instead. I chose the former because in some movies I mentioned above, you could really see the background noises like a telephone ringing or birds singing. If the subtitle version was used, then a hearing-impaired viewer would never know that. Some DVD movies may show background noises.
After I hooked up the exterior DVD player to the TV, only the subtitle feature from the exterior DVD unit is available. The closed-captioning feature from the TV itself is not compatible when playing any DVD movie from the exterior DVD player.
