I have no experience with the Acer Computer WarpLink Desktop you used, but may I suggest that the Warplink is NOT the problem.
A friend of mine had an emachines computer and bought a Palm wireless PDA and couldn't sync it with the computer. He then couldn't get his cable modem to work with the emachines. He gave the emachines to his son and bought a Dell. The Palm synced, the cable modem worked and he hasn't had any problems since.
All of your computer equipment seems to be purchased based more on price then quality. Penny wise and pound foolish can cost you lots of valuable time.
