Pros: OK if you like simple foam rubber. Will correct lumpiness in elderly beds?
Cons: No "memory" whatsoever. No way of anchoring it to prevent it slipping off. Expensive.
The Bottom Line: DO NOT BUY THIS unless you've a problem with the bed itself (and then, it is expensive, as all you are getting is a rough un-anchored piece of foam rubber)

| Bookwriter's Full Review: Serta Deluxe 2- inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper |
I had pretty much the same experience as reviewers on other forums with my memory foam topper, although the supposed niff didnāt actually bother me at all (or there was none). Any smell will be the least of your worries if you buy this as memory foam
I canāt really remember the effect when I first put it on the bed but after a few weeks, I did notice that what Overstock.com had sold me was in actuality just a very expensive piece of foam rubber and two pillows with absolutely no memory effect at all. This is one dud product.
I called Serta and asked them about this and they told me they deny all knowledge of this product. They refer you to two firms who they licensed, apparently, to use their name to sell foam rubber as memory foam. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
The topper is often supplied with two pillows made of the same material. I also have a proper memory foam pillow. The difference is like night and day. I also have a Sharper Image one which is similar except that it is slightly smaller and seems lighter, as if it isn't quite as high quality as the proper one. But it is very comfortable and certainly does the job. If anyone decides to buy a mattress as opposed to a topper, make sure it is actually made of memory foam. I haven't discovered how you do this besides only buying an astronomically expensive TempurPedic, a company which unfortunately has about the most unconvincing 'Ken Burns-style' advertising ever dreamed up for a fantastic product.
One last thing: There are reviews out there advising users to buy the King size for a Queen bed: I ordered a Queen and Overstock delivered a King. When I had to cut mine down to size, they told me I couldnāt return it despite it not being what they were supposed to have sold me! (They say that a king costs the same as a queen)
I complained to American Express who said that it sounded suspiciously cheap for what they were describing. On investigation, Overstock couldn't explain why they had sold me a piece of foam rubber and represented it to be memory foam and AMEX refunded me the money;
BTW It is noteworthy that at different times, Overstock represent this to be either a Serta product (when you click on ordering it) and NOT a Serta product (when you receive it in an anonymous looking box). it isn't clear whether it is or it isnt Serta or whether any other Serta product would do the same thing. Overstock is now trying to flog off (up to) 4 inch (possibly Serta) memory foam toppers and there doesn't seem to be any way of ascertaining whether they are or aren't "memory" foam. I have to say, it DOES discolour like memory foam does and as I say, others have reported a slightly nauseating smell which goes away relatively quickly!
