| e5amarjo's Full Review: Kodak DVC 323 |
I was used to the cheap Ezonics EZ Cam USB II and it's grainy, pixellated images, so when I hooked up this Kodak DVC, my first words were "WOW- look at that!!" The clarity is far superior to any others I've seen or used. Sure you can "take a picture" with just about any webcam, but with this one, you can snap a pic that actually looks great!
Setting this camera up was easy. The documentation is excellent. I haven't installed the included software because I haven't needed it, so I can't offer an "epinion" on that. The USB cord is 2 meters in length which makes it really easy pick up the camera and reposition quickly. The focus is manual and renders a sharp image- the clearest I've seen from any webcam. I was used to sitting in front of a lamp when using other webcams, but with the Kodak DVC, extra light hasn't been necessary. This cam is outstanding when it comes to capturing images and video in less than ideal lighting situations.
The drivers for this webcam seem to be very stable with windows 98se which is another great surprise. I was used to frequent lockups and crashes with other cameras.
The price of this cam has come down considerably from $99. Now you can find it on ebay or ubid for $30-40 which is well worth the money. This cam packs a lot of bang for the buck. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
