Aside from actually offering and having the item in stock, EVERYTHING else was a con.

After trying in 3 different browsers (3 different sets of cookies) innumerous times, over the course of about an hour, and 3 phone calls, I finally got someone who knew that the coupon for first-time buyers could not be used on a "sale" item. Of course the terms of the coupon specify this NOWHERE. Strikes 1, 2, and 3.
Had the "account" closed and reopened.
Finally decided to order the item anyway after an hour of trying. I wanted it terribly, but the item was truly only in stock and available from 2 places--HSN for a total of $21.90 (their insane shipping) or the team's online store for $24.95 plus THEIR insane shipping. It wasn't even an option at nflshop.com. So at least HSN was ahead on one account. Absolutely ONE account.
Now the shipping. First off, I'm usually an Amazon or Overstock shopper (around 30 orders of up to $250 over the past 5 years) and I've only paid for Amazon shipping once--to get a textbook in two days. And Overstock's flat rate is decent enough but I'm usually ordering books so it's more. But even with that they come out cheaper than Amazon.
I normally do not buy if shipping is not factored into the cost of the items somewhere so the retailer can give me the illusion of free shipping. Fool me, please. I like it in this instance :) Most do.
HSN took 2 days to ship a hat. I mean two days for them to get it out of their hands. Again, I'm used to orders shipping, at the latest, within 24 hours. I ordered on a Sunday (10/28/07) and this thing didn't ship until Tuesday (10/30/07). I guess no one works on Sundays or early Mondays.
Great! So my hat has shipped--two days after ordering. Let's see where it is, where it was shipped from to get an idea of when it might arrive considering they do not post a delivery estimate.
STOP! You can't. You can "track" the STATUS of your order, but not the ROUTE/DELIVERY of your order. Tricky bastages. For such a major retailer to not offer delivery tracking is BEYOND comprehension.
So it's now the NEXT Sunday (11/4/07) and I don't know WHEN my hat will get here. I know the item I ordered from Amazon on Friday night will be here Tuesday. And THAT's with the Super Saver shipping.
It took 4 days (from order to delivery) for my jersey from Dick's Sporting Goods, and 3 days (from order to delivery) for my other hat and jersey to arrive from NFL Shop.
Very incompetent and inefficient over there at HSN.
They obviously function by the despair.com poster for Customer Disservice: Because we're not satisfied until you're not satisfied.
