Slouching Towards IKEA
by trailhound | Aug 27 '04
IKEA offers a lot of interesting furniture at a good prices. Shopping there may even be fun. Here's an account if my experience. 2-1/2 stars out of 5.

so much for your great review, Dave. I've never been to Ikea. I guess I was overwhelmed by the anticipated size of it, but I plan on going there in the near future. You've provided a terrific visual, and I'm now ready!

how the IKEA format is identical the world over - the layout as you describe it is almost exactly the same as my local store in Leeds, England - no car though!

Very well described - I always need a brave heart to fight the queues...

I like their catalogs and get good ideas from them, but (Reply to this comment)

I have never been to the store. I imagine the Burbank, CA one was like this chaos when it first opened years ago. I was working in the area and was not about to endure those crowds.

I have yet to get there because their items need to be assembled and I stink at that.

Thanks for the tip Doc. I'll check it out and move the review if possible. (I won't tell them who suggested it though)

Ikea is one of the very few stores considered big enough and popular enough to be actual Destinations... so you can have it added to the travel database:

There's already 2 other locations there ;)
