Dear platonism: A beautiful explication.
I rather think that all these iconic figures can be seen as having copied themselves (or been copied) from an original figure or group of ideas/beliefs.
The Miracle Religions must have been a growth industry from the death of Alexander to Constantine's adoption of Christianity.
My thinking goes so far as to imagine that Jesus himself falls into this group.
Pity, that most practitioners of Christianity are really Constantinians.
Which gets us back to our latter-day cults of Pseudo-Dionysius and Celebrity.
Excellent review.

...that (as Jesus, Himself, said) we must become like little children in order to truly experience God!

Thank you for your comment, Linda. I'm happy that you "connected" with the Pseudo-Dionysius and Neoplatonism.
One of the reasons why negative theology interests me so much is that it somehow goes beyond individual cultures and possible exclusionism -- this is why the Neoplatonist Plotinus' "negative" discussion of the One was seamlessly adapted by Christians and many mysteric schools.

Sounds like Pseudo-Dionysius was on to something. I fully resonate with the quote of his you provided us. I have come to understand that no one can know God through the mind. God is incomprehensible through intellect. Something words cannot describe. One can only understand through the awakened Soul.
Very provocative entry.

Thanks Mike! And thank you for the invitation -- I might not have written about the Pseudo-Dionysius without it.

As always, Philippe, an intelligent, interesting discussion of a figure of whom I'd wager few have ever heard.
Very nice work!
