I haven't seen it but since I'm a fan of Van Sant's work. I want that Criterion DVD (or the Criterion of My Own Private Idaho) for Xmas or any Criterion by Wes Anderson, Bergman, Antonioni, and Kurosawa.
I'm not going to bother in asking you about Gerry or Last Days. I am hoping for his new film Paranoid Park to be out next year in the U.S.

I thought GWH overrated, "Elephant" WAY overrated. And haven't seen "Cowgirls."
I'd heard of "Mala Noche" decades ago, but it has never been on VHS. Go Criterion!

heard of this Van Sant movie.. which is odd. Sounds like my kind of film: sex, sex and more sex! Van Sant has never hid the fact that he is gay, (that I know of) so I guess his first movie is really no shocker..
I can't believe you didn't like Good Will Hunting.
