The Bottom Line My life soundtrack...no wonder my life sucks...PSYCHE!

The life soundtrack has been something I've been considering doing for a while. Despite the fact that I've kept records of it for a pretty long while (I have nearly 50 written down at the moment, on my actual life soundtrack), I've never gotten the cajones to actually post my feelings on Epinions, mainly because I couldn't verbalize how much those songs actually mean to me. When I got wind of this write-off, I was pretty psyched. I didn't have to explain and people could only see what songs I picked for each situation. Pretty sweet, in my opinion. Here's how I would want my life to sound, if I actually did half of these events.

Opening Credits: Ben Folds Rockin' The Suburbs
This is just a fun, quirky yet very intelligent way to open up any movie; it reflects a lot of my own attitudes towards issues and is a nice way to keep the movie itself flowing. Plus, Ben Folds f-ing rocks.

Waking Up: Hoku, Perfect Day
This is the song to play when I try and be optimistic; I suppose I went for a Legally Blonde moment and wanted this played while I was picking out clothes but its sunny, upbeat and something that I wish I could relate to more often.

Average Day: Missy Elliot, Gossip Folks
Mmm, yes, this reflects my lack of popularity and the fact that I do get talked about. Its bravado is insanely fun and something I try to think to myself at times. lol. Well, not really but it sounds nice.

First Date: John Mayer, My Stupid Mouth
Due to the fact that I always say the wrong thing to, well, everybody, I had to put this on.

Falling In Love: Mandy Moore, I Wanna Be With You
Call me a sap (shut up) but this always has a soft spot for me in terms of love ballads. Maybe its Moore's tender, breathless tones or the sweepign instrumentation but its actually kind of touching and heartfelt.

Love Scene: LeAnn Rimes, Review My Kisses
Exotic, supple, sensually elegant; only some of the words to describe this better-than-it-sounds rain-drenched ballad. Rimes' vocal is so atmospheric and nuance-y, yet uber powerful, that you forget this was the little girl that came out at age 13.

Fight Scene: Kelly Osbourne, Shut Up!
Um...aggression and Shilo make a funny mix, obviously. End of story.

Breaking Up: Madonna, The Power Of Goodbye
This is one of the Madge tracks where she really sours heartbroken and melancholic; its a blue-washed oceanic trance-y track that really conveys the mixed feelings that associate with a break-up.

Getting Back Together: Alicia Keys, If I Ain't Got You
Simple message: no matter what happens or what anybody else says/does, we'll always have one another because everything is worthless without the other.

Secret Love: Van Hunt, Anything
Yay, I didn't pick a girly song here! But this is just as effective; anything Van Hunt does is awesome. Plus, he doesn't come off completely desperate here, which is nice.

Life's Ok: Jennifer Lopez, Feelin' So Good
Such a comforting, relaxing uptempo; with that smooth hook, muted production and head bobbin' bassline, its a track that conveys its mood very easily. You get its message pounded into your head and come out of the track thinking life really is ok. Plus, its an upbeat and I need to balance out my soundtrack.

Mental Breakdown: SHeDAISY, Lucky 4 U
With descriptions of all of your personalities and some clever harmonies, its only natural to put this hell-arious country romp in here. It works for anyone who's complex but has this element that you think they really are talking about someone insane.

Driving: Christina Aguilera, Cruz
Ooh, ultimate road songs with tinges of me-leaving-for-college and such. Its all about freedom, liberation and a sense of being by oneself for the first time in a while, definitely something I'll be experiencing soon.

Learning A Lesson: Stacie Orrico, Hesitation
Any Stacie Orrico song would work here, mainly because all of her songs have an individual lesson within them. I chose this because it sounds the most introspective and is more of a thinking person's lesson song.

Deep Thought: Jem, Come On Closer
Jem's music is so smoky, so muted that it settles you down and progresses your thought process. This is one of the more uptempo tracks and gets those gears in motion, I suppose.

Flashback: Kelly Clarkson, Breakaway
Grew up in a small town/ And when the rain would fall down/ I would stare out my window/ Dreaming of what could be/ And if I'd end up happy/ I would pray End of story.

Party Song: Kelly Rowland, Can't Nobody
Total dance-with-your-friends party startin' bassline pumpin' dance track. The club-ready lyricism helps get you in the mood while the chunky production and stunning vocal help you get into it even more.

Happy Dance: Beyonce, Crazy In Love
That horn section alone made me put it on here.

Regretful: Heather Headley, I Wish I Wasn't
I picked this and the next based purely on musicality. Lonely, dripping piano, soft production, intense back-up, etc. You can hear the actual regret and uncertainty in her voice, her power hitting close to home.

Long Night Alone: Pink, Misery
Gawd, my soundtrack is sad. This is the perfect last-call-at-3-am grab-your-beer-and-go type of song, packed with isolation yet chunky instruments.

Death Scene: Christina Aguilera, Beautiful OR Lee Ann Womack, Something Worth Leaving Behind
Before you laugh, let me explain. The first is a message saying that I'm going to be alright regardless of death (and that first hook with just the strings is mind-blowing) while the second states that I may not do something amazing in my life but everyone does leave behind something.

Closing Scene: Christina Aguilera, Keep On Singin' My Song
This is all about two things: moving on and perservering. It unravels itself very well, saying no matter what people say or do, I'm just going to be myself and people can judge how they see fit.

So, well, there you have it. I know some of these choices are a bit off the wall but when you sit to think of them, and include me in these situations, you can actually see this mess work. I actually didn't change these as much as I thought I would and even got decisions on most every category; I, for one, am proud. Much love and propers go out to Justin for putting this write-off on; check his profile for more details.
