Zumiez has the best availability of surf and skate clothing anywhere.

I am a big shopper at Zumiez and I use them as a supplier for my professional skaters I design boards for and my wife loves to shop for clothes there. Every Zumiez not only has a great selection of snowboard and skateboard gear, they have an even bigger selection of clothing. And true to their image, they have a couch there just like their logo shows in their print advertising on the bottom of their page in magazines.
Because of the incredible quantity of skate, surf, and winter sports merchandise, no physical store could even get close to carrying what any given store offers. Zumiez is essentially the Microsoft of surf, snow, and skate clothing. Let's say I want a T-shirt? One can shop by gender or clothing and there are 275 items currently in boys and mens T-shirts alone! The girls have a mere 183 T-shirts to choose from. When I go to the beach I don't see too many girls with watches but the online store has 44 to choose from. To navigate the whole website and see every item would take many months. While there are some online only giants in this industry, Zumiez is the only one which is big online and in its brick and mortar presence.
While Zumiez, like any other online store, can deliver to you, the online organization can ship the item to an actual Zumiez store near you. That way you can compare the item to what there is physically in the store. I would call that a smart move since it would be hard to pick up just that item of clothing and not buy something else on the way out.
There is no doubt that skateboards and snowboards are a very small part of any retail or online store in that field, because it's almost all about the clothes. And both the online store and the retail stores compliment each other nicely.
Being a skater, I do wish that Zumiez would offer more skate gear than they already do, which is substantial, but the profit margin in skateboard gear is very small. I suspect, as do many men and boys who get dragged into a surf and skate shop, that the profit lies with the girls and women who buy at Zumiez in the malls, streets, and in cyberspace. The loose style, or no style, of the clothes makes it a mix and match paradise for anybody into the surf and skate fashion.
One of the funny things I encounter is that very rarely when I ask a person who has a Volcom or Quicksilver item of clothing on if they surf or skate, rarely do they say that they do. Sometimes the person is totally unaware that the item of clothing has anything to do with outdoor recreational sports.
And whether the item of clothing was a gift, which is often the case to the unsuspecting son or daughter, or bought by the person wearing it, there's a fair chance that it was bought online at Zumiez.
