wespac187's Full Review: Alpine iDA-X001 CD Player
First off,
I've read the other reviews and I do agree with some of their thoughts, but in all I would definitely buy it again.
Pros: iPod ready for fifth generation iPods, Displays album art (LCD screen), navigation somewhat like iPod interface. HD radio, SAT radio, bluetooth integrated. Plays MP3 players with USB hook up.
Cons: Middle button on dial only brings up iPod Options. Enter Button is off to the left instead of in the middle of the dial. No Remote.
This is the only flaw I see if you are using a fifth generation iPod with the USB hook up. I can't contest about the direct hook up wire(KCE-422i)used for later generation iPod's because I don't use it and I only have a fifth gen iPod, but from what I hear the back button on the deck does not work with the direct connect wire.
The LCD screen makes the unit because you can have different backgrounds (downloadable from the alpine website) and as stated before the album art work is displayed just like it is on the iPod. It also has a nice clock display in large numbers along with the date.
The navigation could use some tweeks in where the buttons are located, but it acts just like the iPod interface when searching for artist, playlists, songs, etc.
I would recommend this item to anyone who has a fifth generation iPod and likes the Ipod navigation features.
This item was a CES Innovations 2007 Award Honoree and was ilounge.com Best of Show 2007 Honoree. Proving that it is in a league of its own.
There is no other deck on the market that allows album art work and navigation like this deck does.
