Best looking LCD there is.

Pros:Incredibly stylish.
Cons:Price. Smallish sweet-spot.
The Bottom Line: This is simply the best looking LCD around. And it's got great picture and convenience features to boot. Yes it's a bit pricey - but it's worth it!

I've now had my N80 for about 3 months and I'm still admiring it every day. I wasn't really planning on getting an LCD display, but at work I'm using one and it's really nice on the eyes. When my home CRT blew up I had to get an LCD - and what other than this. It's funny - when friends visit the only thing they can say is "Ooooooooh .... Ohhhhhhhh" and sounds like that.

The LCD is very stylish. It's so thin you have a hard time believing it. Of course the external box takes up some space - but I've put it under the table out of sight so it's really nice and discrete. The CRT has the control buttons on top (between the tiny speakers) which at first I thought was a bit odd. It works well though so I don't have any complaints about that. The base of the LCD has 2 USB ports. Also on the LCD side is a headphone jack. Oh and from the base to the LCD there is only ONE cable. That sends over both Video, Audio and USB. Absolutely NO cable-clutter on my desk anymore!

One thing that's VERY nice about this LCD is the dual inputs. The base has 2 video inputs (each with it's own USB and Audio input). The inputs are configured as one normal VGA port and one DVI port. The cable that comes with monitor is a DVI to analog converter cable so you can hook up 2 normal PCs right out of the box. VERY handy. I have my 2 PCs hooked up to it now - and I can switch between them with ONE button-press on the LCD. It will switch over the video, audio and USB (thus keyboard and mouse). VERY convenient.

I haven't hooked up the audio so I can't really comment on the quality ... the speakers are TINY though - so unless you just need the beeps and plonks from your word-processor they won't cut it.

Video quality is excellent. The display is very high contrast, and the colors are nice and vibrant. The LCD I got has ZERO defect pixels ... obviously not something that's guaranteed - but very nice :-) The display sweet-spot viewing angle isn't quite as good as some other LCDs I've used - but plenty wide for not being a problem. The A/D converter is top-notch quality. On some other LCD's I always notice that sharp pixel boundaries are sorta jittery - here it's rock solid. One funny thing though. Sony must use some frame-to-frame image correlation, because if you you have a window with text in it and you move the window around it will look like the pixels double up. Kinda weird at first - but not anything that is bothersome. The scaling of input signals is also very good. The LCD smoothes out all scaled images, so instead of getting weird doubled pixels every so often you get a smoothed out picture. Way better in my opinion. Oh and as with all other LCDs - don't buy it if you're going to play loads of games. LCDs just aren't any good for that.
