Lately we have been trying to upgrade our sleeping accoutrements, starting with our sinfully delightful 800-count sheets . Then my own personal Martha Stewart got it in her head that it was time for a new comforter - white, no less, and down filled. [And she swears she doesn’t have decorating gene in her body.]
Enter our Garden Trellis 320 tc White Goose Down Comforter .
This is 100% cotton, 320-count and filled with hypoallergenic white goose down at a fill power of 600. The only down side of this purchase: dry clean only … sigh …
There are so many things to love about this comforter in relationship to others we have owned in the past. For one thing, it doesn’t travel. Once you put it on the bed, it stays in place and we don’t find it puddled on the floor at the bottom of the bed in the morning. Because it is down filled, it is incredibly lightweight.
Our previous comforter really felt heavy and bulky sometimes and you often found yourself kicking it off to relieve the pressure. Of course, then you get cold … there starts that endless circle of on and off.
Personally, I am a burrower. I snuggle down in the bed until you can hardly tell I’m there. In the past I found our comforter to be kind of itchy and I didn’t like it up around my face, which is hard when you burrow down. This one is wonderfully soft to the touch so even if it creeps up around your face or neck during sleep, it isn’t bothersome. In fact, I’ve found myself holding a piece in my hand and putting it under my head.
I like the windowpane construction, which helps the down stay where it is supposed to be and not gather all to one side or the other. The stitching on this is first rate. Edges are double stitched for extra strength.
Overall impression
I’d buy another of these in a heartbeat. Besides just being beautiful and well made, it is warm and soft to the touch. We managed to get ours on sale … do look for sales on these because otherwise they can be pricey. Keep in mind it must be dry cleaned so you might want to avoid it if you let your pets on your bed or are treated to a sticky-handed breakfast by little ones.
