Your welcome! Nowadays, I'm a solo artist...for some good pointers on recording direct to a computer, check out some of the tips provided by this guy here (just copy and paste the link in your browser):

Thank you for sharing your experience (Reply to this comment)

Vanwarp,
Thank you for your insightful and detailed article. Your writing was clear and well- thought out and your message was well put and free of the Tech- jargon which only someone with years in the field can understand.
I am in the process of planning a studio and rehearsal room at home for my band. We are an average of 52 years old between us so you can understand how intimidating this whole thing is for me.
Your concise language and clear messages were very comforting to me as I attempt to get to the core information I need to set up my studio in a fashion which is simple enough to satisfy the spring- reverb ape in me and advanced enough to let me produce a quality digital reproduction of my band's music.
I still have a long road ahead, but remain optimistic that an old dog can still learn new tricks. I will only know how I did when I slide my first CD into the player and everybody is amazed at how good I made us sound, that is, if we all live that long and don't die of heart attacks first.

For those who've NEVER touched a single piece of recording equipment... a little help?! (Reply to this comment)
by batgirlvt
I always find it amusing (and incredibly frustrating) when I try to tell people 'I don't know anything about this stuff, really' and they continue to speak in some strange language that might as well be Cantonese. Then I have to continue, 'no really, I'm not just being modest! what are you talking about?' That being said... this article was one of the most easily digested I have come across in my months of attempted research, so thank you, but I still am not convinced the following supposed setup will actually work. So can somebody please tell me (and anyone else who may feel as lost in this musical language as me)if I am missing anything?.... here goes: I have a cheap little mixer, a Behringer Eurorack UB802. I am almost decided on either a Shure Beta 87a or Beta 87c. I already have a good mic cord. If I get a Tascam MP P01.... will I be able to record or am I missing a vital piece of equipment somewhere? haha, somebody please take pity on me and help me out??? Humbly, batgirlvt@hotmail.com

I don't do any home recording, mind you. I don't do much playing at all, given that I'm living with my in-laws while my house is gutted, but that's another story.
I really look forward to more of this. While you're at it, let's gang up on Mike and get him to get the effects boxes on epinions for review!
