As you all know, crafting supplies are not cheap and they can certainly run high when you start to add things up! I live in NYC so there is a higher mark up on merchandise as well. So I looked to Joann.com to purchase my crafting needs.
Their website is easy to navigate and placing items in my shopping bag/cart was not a problem.
On their website they say it takes 24 to 48 hours to process the order; great! I couldn't wait to get my package.
When you sign up to Joann.com, you can track your order.
A week went by and my order status did not change from "Being processed". I was concerned I would not get my package in time so I tried to call them and the number was busy. Then I decided to contact them via their online customer care form, hoping I will get a response within 24 hours. More days go by and no response and their customer care number was busy. It took me one week (5 business days) before I was finally able to reach a customer care person.
I explained to them my situation. The customer care person explained that the account indicated that there was something wrong with the shipping address. I further added that I was never informed that there was something wrong with the shipping address. In fact, I even filled out their online form about my order problem and had not received a response!
So, basically, they knew there was a problem with my order but failed to notify me. After I gave her the correct zip code I hoped that my order would not have to get at the back of the line but get processed ASAP and shipped out.
Well, after two days, I checked my email looking for a shipment confirmation but saw none. I logged onto Joann.com and check my order status and it still had not changed from "Being processed" however, I did notice that the zip code was corrected.
So I reached out to their customer care and they informed me that it will be delivered next Wednesday. I didn't quite understand how the customer care person would know my order will be delivered next Wednesday when they can't even tell me the actual status of my order. I asked it that was a guarantee? She said "yes". However, if it does not arrive by Wednesday, I will be refunded the amount. Not exactly a satisfying response because I want the items I ordered.
I called the next day just to confirm if my order was indeed going to be delivered next Wednesday. The customer care person explained that because my shipping information was corrected, it went back to the end of the line and it would take 5 to 10 business days to get processed and shipped. So basically, my order would be delivered the end of next week. Not the response I wanted to hear especially, when the customer care person I spoke with yesterday said my order would arrive Wednesday; she was specific about the day. This girl couldn't even give me a day. And again, they were unable to tell me actual status of my order.
It was very frustrating and upsetting.
1. Joann.com did not notify me of a problem with the shipping address immediately.
2. Their customer care hot-line was busy.
3. Nobody responded to my online form query regarding my order.
4. Joann.com was not apologetic about their incompetence to contact me about incorrect shipping information.
5. Customer care is only informed by the information that is presented on their computer screen and are not able to do more than that.
I would only recommend shopping at Joann.com only if you are not in an urgency to receive your items; or order them at least a month in advance of your craft project or gift giving.
I will keep you posted to the delivery of my order...
