Bombardier / Johnson & Evinrude Quality & Customer ServiceSep 20 '04 Write an essay on this topic.The Bottom Line Based upon my experience I can only say I would never recommend this company's products and would say find a company that knows who it's customer's really are. Bombardier's quality & customer service is the focus of my commentary. First and foremost, if you are looking for an boat motor I would strongly recommend that you do not deal with Bombardier if you appreciate / expect high quality product backed by high quality customer service. Bombardier does not consider you, the motor owner, their customer. I was told this directly by Kent at the Bombardier Service Center. He told me , in no uncertain terms, they consider the dealer their customer and it is their (Bombardier's) job to protect the dealer from customers. Bombardier does not return calls nor do they honor simple requests for copies of your, the owner's , warranty records. These are fractious and arrogant people. Now to quality. After disastrous problems with my Johnson 40 HP 4 stroke engine, one year old with less than 40 hours on it, I was forced to buy another Bombardier motor, due to unique wiring properties of my pontoon boat. Well, more disgusting quality. My motor was delivered with a leaking oil tank. This was not shipping damage, the crate & packaging was all in tact. It was totally oil soaked. While installing the engine we realized it was leaking at the perimeter seal. It was never properly sealed / formed at the factory. Just to be able to use our boat this summer, Colorado is short season, we used marine epoxy to seal it. Can you imagine a new $5,600 motor sealed by marine epoxy. Now back to warranty coverage, Bombardier wants my oil tank back before they will replace it. The arrogance!! I should pull my boat, have it towed to a dealer and take it out of service so they can assure themselves they screwed up once again. Time for a lawyer. This company is arrogant, totally unfriendly to their real customers and frankly their quality is very questionable. Avoid them at all costs  |
