I think the graphics used for "7 Days" at your show sound exactly like the ones used for "This War" - and it is curious, indeed, that Sting dropped the song. I remember it going over like a lead balloon in Milwaukee - even turning people like me (who are in general agreement with the sentiments of the song) off with its self-righteousness.
As a lyricist, Sting is capable of great subtlety and nuance, and he can make some wild, beautiful intuitive leaps in his songs ("Synchronicity II" is a perfect example). "This War" on the other hand was as subtle as a baseball bat over the head. As an audience member with a brain, I certainly felt like I deserved better. I'm okay with artists making political statements with their music, but I think when doing so, an artist needs to ENGAGE his audience - not judge them.
Though your "geo-political" explanation of his omission of "This War" certainly makes common sense, I'd like to believe that Sting removed the song because he realized that it was artistically subpar.
