Stay away if you are a private seller!! Besides glitchy online problems, Autotrader puts private seller ads behind dealers (which is called premium services). For my car I had to scroll to the 5 page even though it was one of the lowest mileage and prices (which are options for sorting).
For my description, something went wrong in the system and it did not display even a 4th of what I typed, leaving critical information off. There only response was that this was a widespread system problem. sorry, but paying higher prices than other comparable websites, I was very disappointed that my ad ran incorrectly for the first week. They offered no compensation for this fact!
In addition, each time I called the support desk, they told me a different thing. On the first call they informed me that private sellers were limited to 250 words online, but that dealers got more. After calling back and talking to a supervisor, I found out that this was simply not true! On a second call, the operator did not even know that they offered a "premium" service for dealers only that features their ads first! I had to find this out in the fine print. This should really be disclose in plain english up front when a private seller is bilked of their $54!
