iKitchen has somewhat cluttered ordering screens;
a very large number of URLs must be allowed for scripting
when using Firefox with NoScript. It would have been nice
to see more straight-forward comparisons among related
products (e.g. Maverick ET-7, Oregon Scientific AW129).
While the item is advertised as "usually ships in 2-3 days"
(which is why I ordered here rather than amazon for the same price), order confirmation includes a disclaimer that "there is a small chance that the item(s) you ordered will be out of stock or discontinued when your order is processed".
I have ordered from iKitchen before with good results,
so have reason to be optimistic.
Not having actually received the Maverick ET-73 dual wireless smoker thermometer,
I can only repeat what I read from other reviews:
* Great for smokers; opening a smoker to check temperatures
can set the process back a half hour each time
(but avoid overheating probes, e.g. in a grill).
Monitoring both the smoker and meat temperature gives
more information about the process.
* getting water inside the probes (e.g. when washing)
is a no-no
* A wireless remote thermometer is the only way to go
when smoking during cold weather. I can only hope that
we avoid the range limitations that have plagued some
users, but it seems clear that starting a session with
other than freshly charged batteries is asking for
trouble.
