Not a very good journal.

Pros:The book that this goes with is great
Cons:Too repetitive, expensive, long chapters, not very good to lead a study with
The Bottom Line: I would just purchase the Captivating book and skip the journal.
I read the book Captivating that goes with this journal and absolutely loved the book. The book Captivating is a book that encourages women to connect with their deepest feminine desires and to see God as their ultimate lover and hero. It is also a great book for men to read to help them understand the heart of women.
So when I was going to read the book again and teach a study with the book, I decided to get the journal. The journal is suppose to be a companion to the book that has places for you to write your thoughts and ideas but also asks questions regarding the chapter. I have to say that I was very disappointed with the journal. Every chapter repeats the first five questions or so and the questions that they ask are very generic. So when leading this study, we would skip over those five questions. A lot of what is in the book is also in the journal, so you end up reading it twice which I found somewhat annoying. There were thought provoking questions and was fairly easy to read, but I ended up just feeling like I wasted money on the journal. Each chapter, because they repeated so much out of the book, was so long. Some of the chapters in the journal would end up being over twenty pages sometimes. I found it hard to encourage my group to do it all in one week because there was so much to read and answer.
I was very shocked to find it this way because I really like John and Stasi Eldredge. They are excellent authors. The book Captivating is definitely a life applicable great book to read that will teach you about your heart as a woman and why we act and feel some of the things we do. But overall, I found the journal to be disappointing and not worth buying. The book is worth reading over and over again though.
