Pros: I get through to customer service quickly, or they call me back quickly as promised.
Cons: But they blame issues on other people
The Bottom Line: Avoid. Unless you like other people using your money for five days.

| funkiedave's Full Review: Authorize.net |
I have a brick-and-mortar business and wanted to be able to process credit cards so after doing some research, I found Authorize.net. Unlike some others experiences, I had no problem setting up the account and using the virtual terminal.
My one and only complaint (and the most important to me) is that I was promised funds would be in my account in three days. After being with them for over six months now, I have learned it actually takes five, count 'em, five days. Heck, if my clients give me a local check, it's in my account in two.
I called Authorize.net and basically they blamed it all on my merchant provider. Who? I don't even know who that is. All I know is that I signed up with Authorize.net and pay them every month. I wanted to have one company to deal with, not two. According to Authorize.net's customer service rep, they process the transaction the same day and if it is taking five days, it isn't their fault. After going back and forth for an hour, I just gave up.
Interestingly enough, I called their sales dept. back a few minutes later posing as a new client. "How long does it take to get my funds if I sign up with you?". "Three days was his reply. I explained who I really was and asked why they are still selling the three day promise of they can't deliver it. No response to that one.
Let's face it; credit card transactions are electronic. I can see a couple of business days, but it is more than obvious that all these companies are in it together; keeping my money longer than they need to so they can earn interest on it. There is no other explanation why it should take five business days in this day and age!
As soon as I have some time, I'm going to cancel Authorize.net and maybe open a Bank of America business checking account. They promise free merchant services and they guarantee it will be in your account the next day.
