Eddie Bauer outfits me in more than just clothes...

When it comes to clothes, I was for years pretty much an exclusive Talbots shopper. I had a store credit card and would often buy stuff from Talbots online. But last summer I found myself ready for a change in style. I remembered liking Eddie Bauer's outdoorsy look and started shopping in their stores for new clothes. Now that I'm in Germany, it's a lot harder for me to trot out to the nearest Eddie Bauer store when my wardrobe needs an update, even though Eddie Bauer does have a couple of stores in Germany. That's where Eddie Bauer's Online Store saves the day.
Eddie Bauer's products
Eddie Bauer Online offers a pretty good selection of different types of clothes for men and women. There are casual, outdoorsy styles, of course, but there are also plenty of business casual outfits available. I can get pretty dresses, skirts, and blouses as well as the appropriate accessories like belts, shoes, purses, scarves, and jewelry. But Eddie Bauer Online is more than just a clothing store. Eddie Bauer also sells camping gear, bedding, pet products, and even car seats!
Since I've been living in Germany, I've ordered two big orders of high quality duds. I placed my first order in October, when I noticed that the weather was a lot colder than the clothes I had brought from home. I ordered a zipper neck sweat shirt and a pair of matching sweat pants, as well as a great pair of knit pants and a long sleeved knit top. The clothes fit nicely, are well made, and are very comfortable. The nice thing about Eddie Bauer is that it offers plenty of sizes for men and women. I happen to be a short, fat woman, but I can usually find something cute that will also fit reasonably well. Also, both my husband and I like the clothes at Eddie Bauer, so we can both shop there. It's a great place for one stop shopping.
Rewards for shopping at Eddie Bauer
For Christmas this year, I looked to Eddie Bauer for help. The nice thing about Eddie Bauer's Online Store is that it participates in MyPoints.com, which allows me to earn points toward gift cards when I click through the site. Eddie Bauer Online Store usually awards two or three points for every dollar spent, but this year they ran a promotion that awarded five points per dollar. So thanks to my last big order, I'm closer to earning my next gift card. Eddie Bauer also participates in Ebates.com, which allows shoppers to earn 4% cash back on their Eddie Bauer purchases by clicking through the site. Last summer, I became a member of Eddie Bauer's Friends program, which awards points per dollar spent. Every quarter, I get a gift certificate awarded based on the amount of money I spent at Eddie Bauer stores and online. This quarter, I got a $30 Eddie Bauer gift certificate, good until mid January, that I can use on my next shopping spree.
Ordering and Shipping
Creating an account on EddieBauer.com is easy. Just type in your name, address, and billing information and voila, you're good to go. Since I'm a member of Eddie Bauer's friends program, I also keep my membership number on the site. That makes it easy for me to get credit when I buy from Eddie Bauer. The store accepts all major credit cards. Sales tax on goods, shipping, and handling is charged whenever a delivery goes to a state that requires it to be collected.
Eddie Bauer offers three different shipping speeds and will ship worldwide, but I must caution that international shipping is very expensive. I'm fortunate enough to have an APO address, so that I can get domestic shipping rates. In fact, my last order shipped free because of a Christmas promotion. The order I placed in October, however, cost over $14 to ship. EddieBauer.com also charges a $3 handling fee, even when shipping is "free". I have always used standard shipping, which takes between 7 and 10 business days. My stuff generally gets to me in a reasonable amount of time, even since I've been overseas. If you're in a hurry and are located in the United States, Eddie Bauer can send you your order within two business days, but again, it will cost you. Monogramming services will set your delivery back by at least one day.
Returns
Eddie Bauer guarantees satisfaction and will accept merchandise for a refund or exchange for as long as you own your product, as long as the product displays normal wear and tear. I have never needed to return any merchandise to Eddie Bauer, but I do notice that my receipts have plenty of information about what I would need to do if I did need to return something.
My overall impressions
I think EddieBauer.com's prices and shipping fees are a bit high, but I've always enjoyed their products and I like their incentive program, Eddie Bauer Friends. I'm glad I can still buy clothes from Eddie Bauer, even though I live in Germany. I've always been pleased with the quality and appearance of their products and will continue to buy online from them for as long as they keep delivering the good stuff.
