How to pick a mattress without becoming an expert on mattresses

Decide how much you want to spend, decide what you want and pay attention to the details of the warranty. Buy from a reputable seller and protect your warranty.

Nice story but (Reply to this comment)

First thing I noticed was the prorated warranty. These are usually found in the lowest grade of mattresses. While it is true that one brand new mattress may give you the same comfort and support as a more expensive set the difference is in the longevity. Most spring sets even in the cheapest of mattresses will outlast the life of the set. The upholstery layers however are a different story. The cheaper the foams in density and type the quicker the set looses comfort. Comfort is the part of the bed that enhances REM sleep or keeps you in the section of sleep where your body repairs itself. If you take the time to read about REM sleep you will see it is every bit as important as support.

This is a good jumping off point for someone starting the "research" before starting the search for a new mattress. A lot of it is basic and common sense, but when researching a new field ya gotta start somewhere. Thanks Lylah!

Why "Not Helpful"? (Reply to this comment)

I thought this was a good revew, full of common sense advice. It would have been nice if the hidden "Not Helpful" would have left an explanation.
