Good Prices, Mediocre Quality

I have made quite a few purchases at LillianVernon.com, and overall I am satisfied. In general, the website offers a variety of products at reasonable prices. There is a trade off, though, in that the products are of an average or mediocre quality. While I have never been truly disappointed by Lillian Vernon, it is an issue of “You Get What You Pay For”.
Products
LillianVernon.com offers a wide variety of items for the home, garden, holidays, and children. They specialize in gifts and personalization. They have a specific portion of their website dedicated to children’s items, called “Lilly’s Kids”. They do not sell brand-name merchandise per se, and they do not sell most clothing items (other than some accessory items, such as robes).
I have bought items from LillianVernon.com such as personalized Christmas stockings, personalized Christmas ornaments, and various Halloween and Christmas holiday home decorations. While I have never had a problem with the personalization component (everything has always been correctly done), I find the quality of their products to be just so-so. For example, the Christmas stockings looked to be similar to ones I saw once at Pottery Barn. But, the ones purchased at LillianVernon.com were much thinner and did not have the same luxuriously velvet feel of the Pottery Barn ones. I also purchased a personalized Christmas ornament. While the ornament was in good enough condition for me to keep it, the ornament had small chips and pieces of paint missing.
Prices
The prices at LillianVernon.com more than make up for the fact that the quality is not the greatest. Their everyday prices are much lower than most other online stores, and they typically have great sales and coupon codes to offer as well. On my last order, I received 15 percent off AND free shipping. Plus, they are a member of ebates.com, so I get additional cash back when clicking through ebates if I order at Lillian Vernon.
Shipping
I have never had a problem with the shipping at LillianVernon.com. All of my orders were shipped promptly and packed well. Lillian Vernon provides email updates when your orders ship, so you can track your orders online.
Overall
Overall, I will most likely continue to order from LillianVernon.com. However, I know in the future not to expect items of the highest quality. But, for holiday home décor and other seasonal items, I would prefer not to spend a lot of money, so I do not mind trading off perfect quality in return for great prices. I just know not to purchase showcase items or potential gifts from this website.
