| susidee34's Full Review: Hewlett-Packard HP 45 Black Inkjet Cartridge, Comp... |
Wish years ago I had been intelligent enough to buy stock in a paper company because with the onset of more and more computers in the world the output of paper is enormous. With paper you have to have some type of printing medium and our printer of choice is our HP-722C. The ink cartridge used in this printer is the HP-45, Black.
I have purchased bargain brand ink cartridges and purchased over the internet, but I come back to the original time and time again for its dependability and quality. The HP-45, also sold under the moniker of HP-5145, works on a wide range of deskjet printers and I have had no problems with the ink supply at all.
Elsewhere I read some reports that the ink dried out or didnt seem to last as long as other cartridges. Ill just say that almost all of our material is printed in black in the draft mode of our printer. With that in mind, we probably get greater distance from our cartridge than some do. Also, with those considerations, you would think that the cartridge would have more idle time to dry out, something we have never been bothered with. We often go a month or two without printing a document, so you can see what I mean about idle printing time.
The standard yield for this cartridge is 833 pages with 5% coverage. Ive never taken count of our output since we dont do production printing and it is sporadic at best. I will mention they do not recommend this cartridge for high production printing, although they dont say why and offer no substitute. That came from the HP website and you would think they would offer a suitable substitute if available. I would assume they would prefer you purchase a printer for high production, crafty people that they are.
The ink carries a deep color, even in draft mode, and has a fast drying time. I especially appreciate the fact that it does not smear when you use a highlighter on it since I use to print out my cross-stitch patterns. I will note, however, that the ink transfers easily to the head of the highlighter pen so keep in mind that you should probably dedicate a pen just for use on copied paper.
I have also noticed it does not smear when it gets wet, as sometimes happens around our house with a dog with a wagging tail. Spills happen, even in the work place, so knowing in advance that the product will not smear is helpful.
Overall impression
Frankly I am very pleased with this product. You can purchase it almost anywhere now, even discount stores carry it most of the time. We can generally get about 6-8 months out of a cartridge with no problems. I wouldnt consider this common for I am sure most people print much more than we do on a monthly basis. Even with that time consideration, I have not noticed any dry out of the product and printing is always clear and precise with no smears. High recommended.
Thanks,
Susi
