I tried my hand at selling on Ebay and thought stamps.com was the answer to my prayers!
What a wonderful idea to print postage at home and place small packages into the mailbox for pickup! I started the free trial only expecting to continue the services as it is something that I needed to be able to sell on ebay. The free trial came with free postage to try out the services. I also received a free scale when I signed up for the stamps.com free trial.
Since I was new at printing postage, I messed up a few and had to be reimbursed for those mistakes in printing. To be reimbursed, they told me to mail in the postage that had printed wrong and I would be refunded. That never happened. I mailed in the wrong postage that I never used and was never refunded. Possibly because it was on the free trial and it was the free postage that I had messed up and needed refunded on. I finally got the hang of printing and stopped making mistakes on printing out the postage.
The problem that I had then was being charged before the free trial was up. I could not get through on the phone to stamps.com. I don't know if it is because of the number of complaints they receive or what. My bank finally was able to get a call through to stamps.com as I had requested a stop payment. My bank told me since I had signed up for the free trial, that there was nothing that they could do except call on my behalf. I could not stop the charges from going through.
I had to close my bank account and open a new one, then try and get stamps.com to stop billing me and refund what had been taken already. Since I was distrustful of stamps.com charging my bank account, I decided not to continue business with them after the free trial was up. It took a week to get through and then they told me my free trial time period had lapsed already so I could not cancel! I was also told that they would refund my money but would refund only to the bank account it was taken out of--the one that I closed to stop more stamps.com payment from going through!
So needless to say, I never got a refund and as far as I know, I still have an account that they are billing me for. As they would not cancel it.
Bottom line: I am not a fan of stamps.com any longer! They hamper people from cancelling their accounts after the free trial time period is over by not answering the phone on a regular basis!
