Charley Pride Said It So Well!!!

The Bottom Line There are times like these when my life seems like the title of an old country song!!!

November 1, 2004

I'm here briefly now and won't be here that much between now and November 14 (on the 13th & 14th, I'm getting my computer upgraded, put off from this past weekend, because Mark wasn't feeling well enough to make the trip up here).

Anyway, Bijou will be celebrating her birthday on November 14, and I've already left birthday wishes for her in the comment section of her last piece (to date).

For some odd reason, her birthday is easy for me to remember.

Anyway, now that you know this, why not make your way over there and leave your own wishes...

UPDATE: I've decided to leave early tomorrow instead of tonight, because the weather will be better and I'll be more alert.

This turns out to be a wonderful decision in another way, because Digging To China is on a channel I have here that I can't get where I'm staying.

Anyway, the same holds true: When I stop leaving, I'll be gone! :o)

Hi, Everybody!

Charley Pride said it so well in the words of a song title: "When I Stop Leaving, I'll Be Gone!"

This seems to be the story of my life at the moment--but it's true!

So, let me give you an idea of what I'll be up to for the next couple of weeks or so--once I stop leaving, that is.

Anyway, for now, I'm still "leaving"--which consists of sitting in front of my computer tying up some loose ends.

For one thing, after I stop "leaving," I'm going to be working on sending out my Christmas newsletters early for a change.

The majority of them will be going out before Halloween with others, likely, out before Thanksgiving unless I need to find an address, etc.

This is a snail-mail newsletter, but it will have links to the Internet--including, but not limited to, one right here at Epinions.com.

Anyway--as strange as this might seem--this is actually something I was intending to do for Christmas 2003 but just got too busy to, so I decided to combine the two years.

One problem, however, is that the newsletter post is located way back in 2003, even though I've done a considerable amount of updating it over the past year, so it hasn't been noticed as a new piece.

Therefore, if I want it to come to your attention, I'm going to have to create a link to it in this message.

What I'm hoping for is that many of you will leave comments there with URLs leading to favorite writings that include such things as Christmas memories, holiday recipes, and other items that would be of interest to those who receive my newsletter and decide to check out this online extension.

What you share doesn't have to be Christmas-related, because I know that not everybody reading this celebrates Christmas--and it doesn't even have to be holiday-related. You can just share a favorite piece of your writings, directions to your personal website, your profile page, or whatever.

I've found that it's a small world and that you never know what sort of connections you might make.

For instance, someone reading my Christmas newsletter might turn out to be a long-lost friend/family member/classmate of someone who has left a bit of himself/herself in the comment section, and you'll end up making a connection.

It might even be possible that someone I've sent a snail-mail newsletter to would read this, join our neighborhood, get to know the person who has contributed to the comment section, and both of them would be single people who will end up becoming a perfect match!!!

Anyway, it should be fun, so here's where to go:

Christmas Newsletter--Double Issue--2003 & 2004--And Actually EARLY, No Less!!!

Anyway, this will be, most likely, the last thing I write here until I get back--except to update the above newsletter a little bit--so I'm looking forward to seeing what all has been added during my time away.

Oh yes! I hope that even more of you will end up reading From Blog-Entry To Book Excerpt...
and let me know it anything of that sort has happened to you, if you want to. You can also share URL leading to your experience in the comment section.

This piece of writing will actually be included in a book--blemishes and all. Yes! There are a few boo-boos, because I was in a sort of freewriting mood as I cranked that out. When it actually goes into my future book, a more "polished" version will also be included.

Speaking of future books, you can find out more about the three I've already written by clicking on what I have listed as my website here (actually, a blog--and one requiring no subscription/membership to read) and going to the initial entry.

I have a link included in my Christmas newsletter that will go into a review I'll be writing here that's also related to that. At this time, of course, the link won't work, because there's no review.

Speaking of links and reviews, here's a link to a review I did here of another writing site:

Hot Off The Griddle!!!

Wanna know what I'm really!Really!!REALLY!!! looking forward to: Getting promoted from dial-up to cable--and that should be my treat this Halloween weekend unless I get tricked again!

Long story--here's the short version:

Cable man (which became cable men--two here and one on a walkie-talkie cell-phone with them) came out to install it. Got everything set up and found it didn't work. They got on the phone with Mark (down in Tennessee--which is free for me, because I have my long-distance set up that way now!), and he set a time to come up and prepare my computer.

But, when he got up here a couple of weekends ago, something was missing--so I had to wait for cable company to come out and put it back in (they'd removed it).

They tried to make it work--including with discussing things with Mark over the phone--but couldn't.

Mark is coming up this weekend to try again--this time, with a part of the cable company on call to deliver anything we need over the weekend.

Hopefully, it will be up-and-running by Monday, November 1.

Anyway, having a cable modem will save me lots of time and headaches--or so I've been told.

So, here's my schedule as it stands now:

Shortly after I get this written, I'm going to be leaving to go back to the "condo" (a kitchenette unit that's both very inexpensive and really wonderful as if it'd cost a fortune) to finally get some uninterrupted R&R for several days.

Here's what I see myself doing:

This week (until early Saturday) staying at condo--except, of course, for going on a few outings--and catching up on several things (including, but not limited to, getting my newsletters ready to mail out--and, of course, mailing them out).

Stormy weather is due in shortly, and it's raining some even now. I want to make it to my condo before it gets too dicey--which means that I'll probably be back here and briefly online sometime next week.

But I'll mostly be gone until Saturday morning.

Unless I need to have cable people out, return to condo very early on November 1, after I play around with my new way of computing for awhile--but not for long.

Returning to go vote the next day, then right back down.

Coming up November 3 in time to go to choir, Cunot with my mom the next day, and to a meeting concerning our land development companies on November 5 (what would have been my dad's 87th birthday). Staying over that night to be of comfort to my mom, then going to condo very early the next morning.

Going out to eat with a friend I met there on Monday. Getting up the next day and moving out. From there, going to Uncle Kermit's until sometime Friday.

Then, I'll, likely, be home that night.

It would have been nice to attend M&G in Chicago, but that would have been rushing things--hopefully, though, a M&G will be held in the fall of 2005 right here in the Hoosier State.

If not, hopefully, something held elsewhere will be where I'll be able to make it there, because I'm anxious to meet fellow Epinionators face-to-face.

Once home, I'm going to be busy getting this place fixed up for the holidays--and for simply surviving in it! LOLOLOL

Unless it's a day-trip, I'm hanging up my traveling shoes until the spring of 2005--or so I think at the moment.

Once home, I can look forward to really being able to do more online due to not having to wait and wait and wait for pages to open online--if they even open at all.

This will mean--get ready to groan!--more AJ in Cyberspace!!!

Well, I'd better sign off and get moving!

Will chat much more after the middle of next month (and, likely, chat at least a little more after the first of next month)!!!

Laters!
AJ :o)
