The Bottom Line: This is the handiest gadget I've ever found. Shrink-wraps food to perfection and completely eliminates freezer burn. Takes a while to get the knack but well worth the effort.

You know how I love my gadgets! Especially when a gadget makes my life easier – and more especially when it’s in the kitchen.
Don’t get me wrong but while I love my Deni Food Storage appliance, sometimes it’s a hassle remembering to order the rolls needed to make the baggies to freeze my food.
Now, I don’t have to worry about that.
REYNOLDS has introduced to the market a new HANDI-VAC vacuum sealer! This thing is awesome.
It’s a small battery-operated device that made from hard molded plastic. It fits snuggly in your hand and is light in weight.
First of all, the batteries are already installed when you open your package but they are easily replaced when they wear down.
In the package, you’ll find three quart-sized bags to get you started.
Before filling the bags with food, please check out the bags carefully. There is a FILL line which indicates the amount of food you can store in each bag for better freezing.
Once the food in placed in the bag, seal the dark blue edges just like you would a sandwich bag.
Now the fun starts!
Place the suction edge of the HANDI-VAC vacuum sealer on the indicated dark blue circle and press the blue button on the sealer.
CAUTION::::::::
Don’t press too hard or you’ll knock out of whack the suction device and render the sealer useless.
Don’t be discouraged if the first few times, you have a problem getting the air out of the bag. I did and found out that I had either way too little food or way too much food in the bag. A one quart bag is great for two large boneless chicken breasts or two thick pork chops (those are examples of the amount of food for the quart bag).
As the suction device catches and begins removing the air from the bag, you can see how quickly the bag shrinks and forms a tight seal around your food for air-tight protection.
The bags supplied are thick enough to eliminate freezer burn completely!
The clear plastic housing unit around the suction device is removable for cleaning.
The HANDI-VAC vacuum and its suction device are NOT dishwasher safe so please if you must clean them, wipe them down with a warm soapy DAMP (not drippy wet) cloth.
I found this neat little gadget in my supermarket for only $9.99 – can you believe it? Ten dollars for a device that is easy to use, easy to keep clean and perfect for keeping my food completely fresh in the freezer.
Oh, don’t toss out the plastic case it comes in. It makes the perfect storage case for your vacuum sealer.
This little sealer fits perfectly in your counter drawer or in your utility closet where you’d store appliances you don’t care to keep on your counter.
As I said, you get three bags that come with this device and they are the quart size but you can also purchase a box of the gallon sized bags.
One more thing to add:
On the insert in the package, it shows a T-bone steak almost larger than the bag. Trust me – if you put a steak that big in the small bag, it won’t seal properly. You’re better off placing a steak that size in the larger bag where it might take a bit longer to have the air removed but the bag will seal better and keep your expensive steak fresher.
