bbreads's Full Review: J. K. Rowling - Harry Potter Boxed Set: Books 1-7
If you haven't read this set of books, you must start today! Now would be good. These are possibly some of the best fictional books ever written. I held off reading these books for years stuck in the idea that they were children's books. Finally I got sick to death of people talking about them all around me while I had no idea what they were talking about. I was hooked--quickly, I might add! J.K. Rowling makes reading tremendously fun with her imaginative world of wizardry. Her characters, magical powers and all, are real and well developed. You will find yourself cheering, laughing and crying with them as they grow up throughout the series. Many parts will remind you of your own high school experiences--minus the magic wands, of course. Her plot and subplots are fantastic and will keep you up at night turning pages anxious to know how things will turn out for our hero and his friends. You will guess and second guess who is good and who is evil. These are great reading even if you've read them before and/or seen the movies. They're fun to read with your children and they're fun to discuss at your book club. My only disappointment came when I reached the end of book 7 and realized that I now had to find something else to read. Where does one go after Harry Potter?
