10 Things I Can't Live Without ~~ hughesfm's W/O

Nov 01 '04

The Bottom Line The Bottom Line has a mind of its own..................

This is a fun W/O hosted by Faith - hughesfm - and I hope you will join by clicking here: http://www.epinions.com/content_4132348036. Trying to think of just 10 things wasn't easy - but here are the results that I came up with....

1. My Husband and Family
My husband, Chris, and I were married August of 2003 and it's been the most loving blessing of my life. We've known each other for close to 29 years and he's as cute today as he was back when we were 11 years old. :-) My family is my life, and I cherish every moment with them, and miss those who aren't with us with all of my heart.

2. My Faith
I respect all faiths and realize that everyone has their own beliefs. As for me, I am a Christian and take my strength from Christ. We've all been through horrible, heartbreaking times, so I'm no better than anyone else - I can tell you honestly that without my faith in God during those terrible times, I would have been one lost girl. So my faith is extremely important and I'm very thankful for it.

3. My Photographs and Memories
Some of my most prized physical possessions are the thousands of Photographs I've saved over the years of family, friends, pets, trips, and just plain snapshots that have kept my past and present alive for me. I am a scrapbooking fiend and I love every minute of it. I treasure my Memories ~ these are what keep my loved ones alive in my heart. Some of them make me laugh, others make me cry, but they always bring an emotion that means something to me.

4. My Friends
Ya gotta have friends... as the song goes. I adore my friends. They're such wonderful people with the most amazing children and I'm so lucky to have them in my life. They've been so good to me over the years and I am very thankful that they've embraced my husband, too.

5. My Pets... past and present
I am an animal lover and always have been. My pets have consisted of dogs, cats, gerbils, hermit crabs, fish, birds, rabbits, a baby squirrel (Scott, it was a baby, and it was cute!) ... lol... and yes, I even had those infamous Sea Monkey's from years ago :-) The pets that will never leave my heart are Maggie, my loving and beautiful yellow lab, and Bailey, my vivacious and rambunctious springer spaniel / chocolate lab. They aren't with me anymore and I will miss them always. Now, I have my sweet senior cat, Sam, who will soon be 15 years old, and he is my "baby." My husband is allergic to him, but Sam has charmed his way into Chris' heart anyway. (Just like I knew he would!) neener, neener, neeeeeeeeneerrrrr!

6. My Home
I'm so grateful to have a warm, loving home to be comfortable in and call my own. I love to walk in the door and be able to relax and feel safe. The sights, the familiar scent - it's a comfort that is appreciated deeply. Everything that is in my home means something to me; everywhere I look is a reminder of the people that I love, the things they've made for me, or the items that have been given to me for safekeeping.

7. My Books
Oh, where would I be without books? I'd probably be bored beyond description! I love all genre's of books - hand me a book about anything and I will read it. I've been reading since an early age and I thank my parents for that. They were always reading to my brothers and I, and they encouraged all of us to embrace books, to know that reading gives us pleasure and knowledge. If you have children, read to them! It will stay with them forever.

8. My Coffee
It's a known fact among my family and friends: I love coffee. Yes, I am addicted, but only during the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. lol After that, I don't need it, don't want it and don't even think about it. My husband tells me that he's learned not to say "too much" until I've finished my first cup of coffee. What a brat, huh?!

9. My Telephone
My phone is my lifeline to the outside world. Since my family and many of my friends live in another state or hours and hours away, the phone is used a lot to keep in touch. I'm on a terrific plan so I can talk to them for as long as I want and pay just a flat fee - which has been a wonderful blessing. I may be all grown up, but I still need to hear my Mother's voice on those days where I feel like everything is spinning out of control. (Thanks Mom!)

... and finally...

10. My Freedom
It's difficult to put into words how thankful I am for our freedom and for the unselfish sacrifice that our service men and women give to us so we can enjoy those freedoms. In all of the chaos that's going on, all of the nastiness of this election of 2004, I think of our soldiers who have given their all to ensure our rights. I can't even begin to describe the feelings in my heart for these brave people and I just thank God for them, and wish them God-speed to come home soon. Please keep them in your prayers - no matter what your faith.
