Nick:

Thanks for the comment. That sounds like a painful assignment. I learned early on in college that teaching was not for me and I've had enough run-ins with teachers over the years (starting in kindergarten) to be a bit cautious as well. Both my wife and sister teach and have tales to tell. But better them than me. cheers

Back in the mid 70s when I was a newspaper reporter... (Reply to this comment)

...in Raleigh, NC, one of my beats was the city and county school systems which were in the midst of a racially-charged merger battle. One feature article I took on was to be an anonymous substitute teacher for a day in a city district junior high school, with the the knowlddge only of the principal. I will never, ever forget that experience, and how physically and mentally drained I was at the end of it. Literal idealism, caring, and dedication aside, I figuratively couldn't imagine, after that, why anyone would willingly take on such a job on a daily basis, either as a sub or as a permanent junior high teacher.

cheers, Mike. nick
