The Bottom Line A few short, simple poems I came up with on a whim. I wanted to experiment with some different styles, so I sat down and wrote these one day.
Untitled I In the meadow there is a hole in the ground It goes very deep, I crawled in. Above me is a world of color Down here its black and white. The bulrushes and weeping willows begin to sing to me I will never tell anyone their haunting words. This melody is mine and mine alone It resonates to where I am below. Now the meadow is starkly silent But I must stay in my den. The nightingale, the first bird Has not yet sung...it is dreaming and so am I. Untitled II Who is the girl sitting by the well She hasnt come around here before Why does she seem to look through me Why does she look at me like I should know her I do not know the girl by the well But she seems to want to tell me something I made one step closer And she vanished into the twilight air. Untitled III I closed my eyes that windy night and a picture crept into my head Hills and trees and a vast marshland And things that crept about in the reeds I took this picture and sent myself there And stood on a rock and called out to the mountains Instead of a reply I got an echo Instead of an echo I got a reply. Untitled IV I shouted at him to get off my shore Go back where you belong I turned my back to him And then skated across the lake But there was no ice. |
