Pros: The writer created his own mythology.
Cons: It felt as though it may have needed a bit more back story.
The Bottom Line: I think it is worth seeing because of all of the role switching that is done with the big name actors. And it is visually stunning.

This was a nice new take on a fairy tale. It had all the elements needed for a good one with some toung in cheek humor as well. I liked the weird role that Diniro chose, I'm not sure what exactly it was all about; he was still a bit scary being Diniro despite the softness of the character.
Clair Danes is someone I like and she did well in her role as star, although she is not really a classical beauty she was a nice face to see in the role.
The film did a fare amount of turning things on their head and the choices in cast was one of the things that really did it putting typically good guys and bad guys in thier opposite roles.
It is an odd mixture of people to cast together but I am always interested to see films that seem to have everyone and the appeal was there.
I do think it needed a bit more explanation in some areas. There do seem to be clear rules in place as to how the world works in Stormhold but I think the audience is left out of some of them. There is obviously magic but it is a bit unclear as to who is allowed to have it and use it.
in terms of comic relief, the ghost princes were particularly entertaining. But the moments that caused the most laughter on my part were pulled off by the "Billy" character a goat who is changed into an inn keeper.
The landscape and visual effects were very well done.
