Good Products, Priced Fairly, Good Customer Support

I have used audible.com for about 4 years now. Keep in mind I was in my late 30's and had never used an MP3 Player in ANY form before. I have wondered what would happen to my books if I cancelled my subscription because they do say that if you buy them they are yours forever.....that is probably a somewhat misleading statement. That having been said I have never had ANY problems that customer service wasn't willing to help with and/or correct. And I had to call them right away because I couldn't figure out how to access my audio book on the Sandisk player I was using. They were very nice, explained what I needed to do, waited for me to do it and confirmed everything was okay.
You do not have to download your book by the end of the month you are paying for, but you do have to purchase it by that date. There is a "next listen" tab at their site so if you think you may miss the date pick a second choice book and it will automatically buy it rather than lose your credit.
You can only download to 3 different computers so make sure one of them is your "main" computer. If you need to change computers you can call and they will reset it for you......I know I have had to do this once already.
And finally, yes, it appears some of the books are expensive but I noticed there seems to be a difference that isn't immediately apparent. Some of the other places to download audiobooks that are cheaper are the abridged form. If you want the complete unabridged book the cost is higher so truly I think that is why. How important this is is an individual choice......I have found much more cost effective to maintain my membership. For $15 you get one audiobook and the Wall Street Journal or New York Times daily not bad if you consider the cost of 1 audiobook.
I am only giving it 4 stars because I do think if you cancel your subscription you should be able to access your "purchased" books, other than that a very good company and customer service has always been very good.
