BEER - a lean-n-mean III W/O

The Bottom Line Short and sweet...actually, more dry than sweet

A couple of years ago, I was in Aix-les-Bain, France. And what better to do whilst there than drink some local beer which, thanks to sleeper54's Lean-n-mean III W/O, I can now tell you about.

L'Aguille Blanche is a wheat beer, from Brasserie des Cimes, which comes in a funky blue bottle.

It pours a hazy, gold-to-mustard colour with an initial fizz, but practically no head.

The aroma is outstanding. Curacao, coriander, and lots of lemony citrus. It's sweet, with a strong sense of orange blossom and it's decidedly fruity.

Full-bodied with a lively mouthfeel, it's tangy and slightly bitter with a taste not unlike scrumpy cider. The citrus and orange blossom remains on the palate. It finishes very dry and bitter...almost sour.

• The Verdict •

At 5% ABV, this was interesting, but not all that good. It smelled inviting, but the taste was a big letdown. Quite refreshing, but TOO bitter, TOO dry and TOO cider-like.

Would I drink it again? - No.
